Oldies station here?

Restless

I love listening to the music of the 50's, 60's, and 70's but not the real hard rock stuff. I know we have the classic rock station here, but they play mostly harder rock. Is there any station we may be able to pick up on the radio that plays the soft hits? Our cars are older so we don't have any plug-ins for iPods or MP3 players.

Thanks for any suggestions!

What do consider "harder" rock?

It's classic metal, classic rock, not pop hits. ZZ Top is not Dion. AC/DC is not The Beach Boys. Nirvana is not Neil Diamond.

I love classic rock and classic pop and classic Disco. I blame my mother.

Restless, I agree with trying 107.1 WTDK. Though sometimes it isn't clear and you have to go to another channel.

Definitely NOT Fleetwood Mac, Allman Brothers, The Beatles, and Styx!

First of all... Dion, The Beach Boys, and Neil Diamond are definitely NOT rock in any fashion, shape, or form. They are most definitely what you would call Pop music. They might have been considered rock back in the day but... these days it is "put you to sleep" music.

They do play ZZ top, AC/DC, etc. but those bands I wouldn't even classify as "harder rock/metal" Probably as "hard" as they get with their music is Black Sabbath.

Sounds like you need something like 98.3 or the likes.

Yep... and paying attention is YOUR friend.

The OP stated "I know we have the classic rock station here, but they play mostly harder rock." My comment and point was that they do not play what many consider "hard rock" and is in fact what most may consider pop-rock.

All I have to say about 97.7 is thank god that Ripley is gone. That dude was annoying as ####!

Restless, if you have a 12v outlet in your car, you can buy a Bluetooth compatible device (they range in price greatly, $30-100) that will broadcast on the FM band..then you can tune your car radio and stream whatever you want from the device you connect to the Bluetooth FM transmitter. I use a ~$40 unit, the GOgroove Flexsmart x2, to meet the 'hands-free' requirement for my phone. Most of these units allow you to connect any audio device via 3.5mm cable, Bluetooth, USB charging, etc. - FYI, they also have rechargeable battery powered units too, some sit in the visor, etc. but they are really designed for talking.

Then you won't be stuck listening to the awful 97.7. I personally usually listen to 102.9, until Frank goes too far back with the music selection and gets twangy. However, this weekend out in the Virginia mountains, I played downloaded music from my phone through the GOgroove to the car stereo and it worked great.

Let's just hope it never goes back to the easy listening station it was at one time. We need a classic rock station but they all seems to play the same songs over and over. I cringe sometimes now hearing songs I used to love.

100% agree.

I actually remember when they went hard rock/metal for about 2 weeks. Remember that? I thought it was great but, I knew it wouldn't last :frown:
