Olive Garden

Went there the other night for dinner. They are trying a 2 nights for $12.95 special. The woman that came to our table explained that this is the only Olive Garden in the country doing it as a trial. What you get is a dinner from a limited menu (about 1/2 dozen choices of pasta) but includes soup or salad. Then when you are ready to leave they bring you another dinner to go. After dinner was asked to fill out half of a short questionnaire, then the next day after you have your take home, you're asked to go online and fill out the second half of the questionnaire. After all is said and done you can print a coupon for $10 for your next visit. Not a bad deal, 2 dinners for $2.95

Check your math

That's 2 dinners that still cost 12.95. Not a bad deal if you want their pasta choices. You only get the use of the $10 coupon if you go back to the restaurant for a regular price dinner ( a 3rd dinner). Still, all in all, it is still a decent deal.
Of course, that 12.95 dinner (or the 3rd dinner) does not include drinks, taxes or tip!

Here is a reasonable breakdown:

Dinner: $12.95
6% Tax .78
1 Drink 6.00
Alcohol Tax .60
15% Tip 3.05

TOTAL $23.38

Avg cost per dinner is $11.69, not $2.95

Of course there are other variables, more than 1 drink, more expensive drinks, dessert, larger tip%. Just something to think about. Remember, you don't get the use of the $10 coupon until you make another trip to the restaurant and pay for a full price meal.

Your server may have been new and is mistaken. It is not something that Olive Garden is trying. It is a promotion that is running in every Olive Garden across the country. Olive Garden doesn't "try" things out. They run promotions and then they go away. Promise you that soon it will be gone.

Is nothing more that reheated corporate crap food. Just my opinion, this local one is no different.
