The judges said he did, therefore, he did. But Changing the guy's score AFTER posting his score was total

The Russian gave a school on high bar but muffed his landing. The judges gave him the third highest score when it was clearly one of the greatest performances, if not the greatest, in the history of high bar.nomoney said:
So the crowd goes ape. Poor Hamm is waiting for his turn midst a cascade of boos, hoots, catcalls and amusing foreign gestures that roughly equate to the finger. This goes on for over eight minutes and bless NBC they stuck with it the whole time.
So they change the two lowest scores but this still gives him the third highest only. Crowd continues to rain abuse until the Russian graciously comes out to acknowledge the support and gesture for quiet so poor Hamm can do his routine. Crown capitulates.
Hamm goes through his routine and sticks the landing. They give him the top score bumping the Russian out of medal contention and the place goes ape again.
It was fantastic drama.

If you need a judge, they are, by definition, an integral part of the given 'sport'.
That makes gymnastics and ice skating and boxing suck.
Judged sports need a complete change or we will forever watch outstanding athletes have unbelievable performances trashed by the vagarities of human nature.
I say set them bars up, side by side and have two people do the SAME routine, at the same time. Get them announcers to expalin, in detail, exactly what they are suppossed to be performing.
Then you have a win, loss or tie.
Everybody builds a record through prelims and then rank 'em for the finals, worst v's 1st and you'll end up with the best two last, head to head.
Ice skating, cut the ice in half, same thing. COMPETITION not a damn dog show.
Boxing should be ended.
