One big dog!

One of my friends FB'd this photo of her dog Lena yesterday. Lena is a Kavkazskaya Ovcharka (Caucasian Sheepdog). I could hardly believe how massive she is - and, looking at photos of others, they can get bigger! This breed was developed for [livestock] herding and defense, but Lena is a big, sweet puppy.

Is that guy sleeping or did the dog crush the breath out of him?
That is one big animal, looks like a sweetpea though.

Can't understand

How people allow dogs inside their home and on their furniture, beds etc.

 They first met Lena at 5 weeks and took her as soon as she was able. At that point, they could cradle her like a baby. Believe it or not, Lena is only ONE year old! No more cradling when she is nearly as big as the sofa.

happy to be living
Holy chit! That is one big (and very beautiful) dog!
I can only imagine the huge land mines in the yard from that size dog!

Two things come to mind: food and poop
What a big ole lug. I wouldn't want that food bill.
However, if one should ever be hiking and encounter a grizzly, such a dog would provide great defense.

I'm not sure how much Lena weighs, but according to Wiki, they regularly reach 180 lbs., and 220 is "not uncommon". :faint:

Look at these photos from Wiki... An adult; a future beast.

I'd have to say that she belongs over there.. on the horse forums. ;P

I can't imagine the food bill that they must have..

Awww..She looks like a big, beautiful, sweet girl. You could also use her for alternative transportation in the snow, just hook up a sled and mush. LOL

Then I would suggest you never come to my house... Now granted, all my pets combined wouldn't even equal 1/2 that dog... but they still live in my house, get on my furniture and sometimes sleep on my beds. I think it is cruel to get a pet and keep it outside all year round. Any besides... I think my animals are cleaner than most people.

Haha! Good for you. :D I have two dogs and a cat.. and if I could bring the horse inside, I would... Still working on the most logical way to fit him through the door. :(

The dog sleeps in his bed on the floor in my room but I recently found out that he sleeps on my bed when I'm not at home. Oh well.

One of my dogs has a Dog Pedic Sleep System bed... if he could actually get on the bed... he wouldn't sleep on it, but he is getting old now. He snores too. My little dog doesn't take much room and she's way too cute to kick out of bed.
