Open wheel race at Watkins Glen

What a joke. :duh:

So, Danica Patrick ran over the pit wall and wrecked herself out.

Scott Dixon went to take the green (while the pacecar was still on track and they hadn't even gotten the one-to-go) and wrecks himself and Ryan Briscoe out.

Milka Duno crashed AJ Foyt IV under caution.

Vitor Miera gave EJ Viso room to pass and Viso just runs him in the wall.

No wonder Franchitti sucks in NASCAR. These people don't know how to drive on ovals or road courses. :killingme:killingme:killingme

:sarcasm: That's the world's best drivers for you :sarcasm:

Once again Andy shows his lack of race knowledge.

The problem (except for Danica) was the tires. Not enough traction in the rain. If the crew chiefs had made the correct decision to put on the rain tires and/or replace worn tires during the pit stop, they would have had enough grip and would not have wrecked.

Tell me, oh wise one, where was this rain at? :notworthy

You have the F1 at Britian and the Indycar Series race mixed up.

EJ Viso's wreck had nothing to do with rain or tires (the magic rain that was falling under the sunny skies).

Milka Duno straight ran into Foyt, and Dixon just accelerated when he was warming his tires up.

You're the one with a lack of racing knowledge. :coffee:

I agree, not a good race, however there still is a lot of talent in Indy Car racing. I think things would have went smoother if Indy Car implemented the local yellows as F1 does.

You are correct. I did mix up the two. Watched parts of both races yesterday in between Deadlier Catch and Gearz shows.

IndyCar does have local yellows. They used it a ton of times. But they have to throw a full-course caution when someone can't get fired and is right in the danger zone, especially when the field is as strung out as yesterday's IndyCar race.

The past 4-5 IndyCar races have been pathetic. The cautions are WAY TOO LONG. Sad when ESPN gets in 3 commercial breaks during a caution. We managed to get brokedown cars off the track cleanup oil off the track two different times and get back to racing (at MIR) in the time it takes IndyCar officials to get one car off the track.

I don't have a lot of good things to say about the IndyCar Series this year. Last year's races were incredible, but this year has completely sucked. Only memorable moment this year was TWR, and that was only because it was THE most historic moment in the IndyCar Series in over a decade.

The race sucked. It pretty much sums up how the season has gone so far. The merger has done nothing. I had a friend who worked for an IRL team, and I am sure he is glad he has gotten out of it. He has sense moved onto a le mans team.

I watched an episode of Gearz where they build an Corvette. If you slap on two turbos on a C6, is that even capable of hitting 200mph untuned?

That is a really good show. But you could not even drive that car and get onto it without a tune.

Damned glad to meet you

What is a C6? Did you hit the wrong key ? Do you mean V6? If so do you remember the Buick Grand National? A turbo charged, air cooled V6 that was the fastest production car on the market for a while in the 1980's.

Also, with a twin turbo setup, it should be well over 600 hp, even with those tiny turbos. I am sure they were not pushed to there limits.

Kewl, that you have a friend working on an ALMS Team.
That is my favorite racing series. I like am a big fan of the Flying Lizard GT2 Porsche Team.
Also the Audi R10's are awesome torque monsters!

Nice, I like watching the series too with the different classes. I got a few freinds who have gone into the racing industry or who I know that have been in racing.

Yeah, I like the idea of the series having cars that are more so based on true "stock cars". It is much neater to see Vette's, Porsche's, Ferrari's, Panoz, etc racing against each other. Plus the prototypes are amazingly fast, only second to a F1 car in all around speed.
