Sounds like there may be a concept here.

Ann Coulter, "The best way to convert liberals is to have them move out of their parents' home, get a job, and start paying taxes."

Lenny...

...here's the thing; this kid doesn't fit the stereotype; he THINKS.

He makes reasonable points. He knows what he believes and why. He is, to me, a classic liberal, not a modern liberal. BIG DIFFERENCE.

I find it easier to call him young, and only here an there, rather than niave in his points and he is thus a very impressive young man. Even the things we disagree on, I have no fear for our future if youngins' like him take over.

Character, this one has.

Hmmmm well how about this for deterence. Instead of the chair, lethal injection, or gas chamber we instead throw some gasoline on them and lite them on fire....that would have to deter something.

:yeahthat: He is much the way I was when I was his age. I suspect his views will become more like ours as he ages.

Thank you for the kind comments Mr. Gude and 2A. My experience on this politics forums has been very informative and insightful, just as I had hoped. Sure there are times of frustration and times in which I am truly upset how rigid some people can be, but ultimately I understand where you all are coming from. I want to especially thank you all for considering the opinions and points of an eighteen year old kid...many adults refuse to even consider them but not the people here.

rraley, plug your ears and hum Dixie for three bars.

Larry, I agree that rraley (though wordy at times) isn't a typical knee-jerk liberal. And I enjoy that he sticks to his guns when he gets into a meaty discussion. Makes me recall some solidly-held positions I used to espouse when I was much younger.

OK, rraley, you can start listening again.

You are not the typical eighteen year old kid. I suspect you know that. Some 18 year olds should still be in kindergarden and their opinions are about as well thought out as a 5 year old's.

I just got this quote in the Federalist. Thought it was germane to the topic.
"When your insurance company has to buy its way out of a frivolous lawsuit, guess whose premiums go up. When developers trying to build homes or apartment buildings get sued at every turn by environmental extremists, guess what that does to rents and mortgage payments." --Thomas Sowell

Thank you 2A once again. What I have to say about many of my peers, whether they are liberal or conservative, is that they are too tied to the influence of their parents and they do not know enough about current events because they are either legitimately busy or because they just do not see the application to their life.

As for Lenny...

I wish I was in the land of cotton,
old times there are not forgotten,
Look away, look away, look away, Dixieland...
Then I wish I was in Dixie, hooray! Hooray!
In Dixie land I'll take my stand, to live and die in Dixie,
Away, away, away down south in Dixie,
Away, away, away down south in Dixie.

There what did you say?
