I've spent the last year doing trips off and on to Baltimore' University of Maryland, pediatric endocrinolgist, Dr. Debra Counts and GI speciailst- Dr. Blanchard.

My 7 YO son has qualified for a growth hormone study which specializes in kids who have been diagnosed with "idiopathic growth" fancy word for "i don't have a professional opinion for what's going on with your child".

the concern starts when the growth chart pattern dives deeply.

If you want the phone numbers, PM me.

I'll be heading up to balt. in 2 weeks.

And she is gorgeous! remember mom- great things come in small packages.

Your daughter is so beautiful, my oldest was a little slow go to grow but now she is 12 and almost as tall as me, like someone said earlier, she might be a later bloomer. Enjoy every precious moment you have with her

Does my butt look big?
She is adorable what a cute little girl..but wouldn't the heart murmur alone make her smaller not counting the other issues??

My daughter always ran UNDER the scale but followed it..but never found anything wrong with her she is now a healthy thriving chubby 17 yr old..and she was teeny as a baby..

That pic is so cute!!!
It would be one thing if she followed a normal growth pattern. Unfortunately, she dips and gains, dips and dips.

Failure to thrive. She has been to nutritionists, geneticists, nephrologists, gastroenterologists, ENT, and her Ped. but no one can seem to figure it out.

As others have suggested it may be hormonal and in that case I would strongly suggest you schedule an appointment with a Endocrinologist . They are the experts in this area and you may be surprised at what they are able to reveal. I speak from experience for I have a benign tumor of the Pituitary gland.

She is so cute.

I'm assuming since you've mentioned gasto, she's already been tested for Chrohn's and all the other gastric stuff associated with fatty stools. I'd agree with the others and say endocrinologist is the next step.

My oldest was tiny for her age, 18 lbs and short at only one year. She is now 21 (in aug) and is still short, only 5'2". Her weight has fluxed, but ideally for her is around 115-120. The doctors thought she had CF and was tested because of her small size and lots of diarrhea. Turned out she is intolerant when it comes to apple juice, and still is to this day. Another avenue for you may be to consult a allergist to find out if she has any food allergies.

My baby is in the 20% for her weight, 21 lbs at one year, but she's at 100% for her height (her father is 6'5") Doctor isn't worried, she's just tall and skinny but eats like a horse!

Best of luck. Keep us updated. I'm hoping she is just little and will catch up soon.

Interesting. She drinks apple juice all the time. i never thought of that! She got used to drinking alot when she had to take Bicitra which is awful tasting.
