A 13 year old and an AK-47? Geezuz!

Go arrest his parents. How does a kid of this age get his hands on an AK-47? His parents must be idiots. It's time parents are held responsible for their kids actions.

I wonder if it was it a real AK-47. Sometimes those pitbulls in the news turn out to be mixed-breeds.

Anyway, it's an election year. I wonder who put him up to it and why he "really" didn't want to do it.

I'll wait until more facts come in before blaming the parents if it's necessary.

I'm sure it is a Semi-auto clone, which are pretty much legal for anyone to own and just slightly more of a PIA to buy then a hunting rifle.

Sharon-have you lost your mind? What difference does it make if the gun was a rifle, handgun, shotgun or AK-47? And you find that funny-Are you learning impaired?

Please note: The student pointed the rifle at 2 school administrators and 2 students, then fired into the ceiling of the school. The school administrators were able to get the student outside, where he dropped the gun and was arrested by Joplin police. Police later found a note in his backpack indicating he had left an explosive device at the school. Shortly before noon, bomb-sniffing dogs had hit on a locker on the 3rd floor of the school.

BTW-Stupid people shouldn't breed-take a hint!

I think you misunderstood what Sharon was saying, but I'll let her elaborate.

Really it dosen't but the media loves to call anything with a woodstock and a mag. capacity of 20 rds or more an AK, and then the public reacts. "AK-47 jeez", "how did he get his hands on a AK-47?"

So it must of worked.

Well, AK-74me covered the gun comment which is what it seemed to me that Sharon was saying. The other part is that the parents may not be to blame. The student said "please don't make me do this" several times and then fired into the ceiling instead of firing at the people. Also, there was this comment in the article: "Farmer said police believe they know where the student got the weapon but would not disclose those details."

It could be that someone else somehow forced him to do this.

Sometimes I forget there are mouth breathers on here. I certainly don't need a hint from you. Many times a "big ole scary gun" isn't identified correctly.

How do you know his parents are stupid or that they were behind this behavior? The article doesn't mention them at all. Police searched "a home" not necessarily his home. I'm not defending the child at all, but it is very obvious he didn't want to play his role in this situation. He shouldn't have fired the gun, but he did put it down which means he really wasn't committed to the plan, whatever it was.

You are just so quick to condemn because all you saw was kid+school+gun = bad parents.

The "Baby" We... 10-09-2006 02:37 PM STFU, your posts are getting stupid!

Here ya go... you might need this in the future if you read my posts and practice those breathing techniques. :yay:

Thank you for your intelligent insight as to my mouthbreathing-I gave that up a long time ago when I gave up my mother’s teet.
Maybe the next time he will be committed to the plan, that's a very odd way of putting it. He's 13! "He didn't want to play his role in this situation"? Seems to me bringing the gun to school, shooting it off and "possibly" have a bomb device is "pretty committed and playing out his role".
As far as a "big ol scary gun" have you ever been on the receiving end of one? They're all scary my friend!

Update

The AK-47 assault rifle used by a 13-year-old male student in a shooting this morning at Joplin Memorial Middle School jammed after the first shot.
The student entered Memorial Middle School shortly before 7:45 this morning, wearing a full-length, black, military-type black trench coat, Joplin police Sgt. Curt Farmer said. The boy was wearing a makeshift mask made out of a white T-shirt.
The student was confronted in a hallway by Assistant Superintendent Steve Doerr, who saw the boy pointing the rifle at another student. He attempted to intervene, and called 911.
Memorial Principal Steve Gilbreth then confronted the boy, persuading him to leave the building. Gilbreth followed the boy out, walking about 10 feet behind him. Inside a backpack he was carrying, Farmer said, police found a set of BTUs, or camouflage battle dress uniforms. Police also found notes on how to make a bomb.

Well it was a MAC-90 so that explains the jam anyway. I guess in this case thank god it was a cheap chinese clone.

I have to agree with Fubar. I believe the parents should be held accountable for their childrens actions.

Not just in this case but others as well. Look how many "accidental" shootings there are where the "kid(s)" found or knew where the parents kept their gun(s) and it went off. Not that this was accidental because it wasn't! Just an example.

Mouth breathing bad. I made a note of it.

People always say that until their own cherub gets into trouble.

I don't have any cherubs of my own. Thank God! But, I do have friends that have their own "little darlings!" A few believe everything and anything their kids say and it makes me want to pull my hair out! So I get what you're saying Vraiblonde!
