Ouzo's in LaPlata

Never ever heard of this place. Had no clue it existed. Received a coupon to it from Restaurants.com, so we tried it out.

OMG :yum:  :yum:

If you like true Greek food and a great dining experience this is the place. Totally worth the drive from Ridge to La Plata.
::Ouzo’s Greek and Regional Cruisine:: La Planta, Maryland

Shortly after we arrived, it started raining, and the owner grabbed the patio umbrella and began walking customers to and from their cars in the parking lot.

Service was excellent, the food was fabulous and I've been yelling "ooompa" ever since.

We had the tyropitakia, mousaka and the Greek sausage dinner with Greek salad and the house wine. We had leftovers and no room for dessert.

So if you ever have a hankering for something different and good, I really suggest trying it.

they used to have awesome buffetts on Sundays but had to stop it because we seemed to be the only ones in there.....

it's one of those places where you want them to do well because they are such great people but are always happy when it's not crowded...then you laugh because there are people lined up out the door at Texas Roadhouse..

That's Funny That It's So Good At Ouzos. We Tried To Eat There A Couple Of Years Ago And Were Turned Away Because It Was "only For Greeks". Now...i'm Dark Haired And Dark Eyed So I Don't Know What Made This Employee Turn Us Away. I Thanked Him...in Greek...
And Said Good-bye In Greek. He Then Ran After Us Into The Parking Lot Apologizing But By That Time We Had No Interest In Ever Going Back.
By Our Good Luck, We Went To A Persian Restaurant In Waldorf Behind The Toyota Dealership, "the Silver Skewer".

riiiiiiight...

well my friends and family have been going there for 3.5-4 years and never had that problem..it would be a little hard to run a cooking school (which they do) with that policy...

nice first post by the way...

Ouzo's EXPENSIVE!

I have eaten here when it first opened and several times afterwards. Very expensive, and the food is sporadically good. Lemon chicken is overpowering lemony. Pizza was good, but not worth the price. Broiled grouper (is a white meaty fish) for $30 turned out to be steelhead (a cheap version of salmon that was dry). We avoid this place at all costs. Many nice places that many overlook. One is El Dorado, a spanish restaurant on Charles Street in LaPlata. Very reasonably priced and the food is excellent. Don't confuse this place with your run of the mill Mexican restaurant, it is spanish food, not mexican.

I thought it was good as well. I know they close the place down for a month or so every year.

I liked it the one time I went. The Saganaki was awesome but it was very spendy for only a small portion. I had the Vegetarian Dinner and it was quite good. They also have live bellydancing there with sort of caught me off guard because I had a mouthful of Pita then I look over my shoulder and see this lady dancing with lit candles on her head and a sword. I about started to choke, did NOT expect to see that!!
The staff was soooo nice and personable. There is no way in hell I think they turned someone away because they didnt look Greek :bs:b. I, nor anyone I was with look anything even remotely close to being Greek and they were friendly and encouraged us to come back.
For a party of three our bill was about 70 bucks, which is a little spendy but it was a fun experience and nice atmosphere. I make Greek once a week for dinner (much cheaper >,<) Just FYI, If you're looking for Falafels when I was there last year they did not have them =( Overall, I reccomend it!

Everytime we have gone the food has been excellent. The pizza is so fresh and delish. I do agree it is a bit pricey. Did not know about those coupons as we have eaten there everytime w/ out them  Dinner w/ drinks for 2 will run you about $75. Now that I know about the coupons we will be eating there more often though :yay:

:dead: It is good food but I won't go back after watching the roach crawl up the wall. :dead:
