Ahhhh, the memories! :killingme The last time I went to an Oyster Fest, I saw an angry boyfriend push over a porta potty with his girlfriend inside it. She didn't look so great when she finally got out of it. :killingme

I don't eat oysters, :barf:, but used to go to the Oyster Fest on Long Island every year by boat for the bar crawl. Sure had a lot of great times there.

Northport? I grew many of the oysters that got served there.

Actually the one in Oyster Bay, Nassau County. Used to go to Cow Harbor Day in Northport every year too. I guess I really need to get out more around here, used to spend every weekend on Long Island out & about at the many festivals, fairs, etc. There was always something going on.

Northport, Oyster Bay, Centerport.... all the same  I worked at the oyster farm at the Northport power plant for years. Haven't been to an event there in a long time.

Overrated.........Overpriced.....imho.....

definitely agree with that - though I guess it's convenient and something to do around here.... I grew up out on the water though and was tonging (not sure if I spelled that right?) and shucking oysters for my grandfather by 1st grade. Tough work - but I got used to getting crabs, oysters, etc. for FREE and I have a hard time paying tons of money for them now!

My dad is getting older, I need to get him to transfer his CFL license to me and we need to get a nice little workboat... so I can go out and satisfy my seafood cravings! I can at least get a trot line going for crabs in the summer... oysters, don't know if I have the muscles for that by myself (my city boy hubby wouldn't be much help! LOL)

Hopefully the rain will hold off for those of you going this weekend though :buddies:
