The thing to remember about the food prices is this; if you are buying from one of the local civic organizations (i.e., 7th District Optimist, Lions Club, Rotary etc.) this is a fund raising opportunity for us. These clubs do A LOT of good things for the community and this year, as you all know, the call for support from these organizations has grown.

I didn't go 20 years ago, but have been the past 5 and have had a blast each year! Saw the clips from Fox5 being down here this morning talking about it. Rain or shine, it will be a good time!!! Sure, the rain gets in the way a little, but there is enough to do and enough places to take shelter in between hitting the beer tents!!!!Holly Morris: Oyster Festival

We were going to, but decided that it just didn't seem fun in the rain and mud. We are finishing up some inside home projects instead. That doesn't seem like fun either.

Anybody going??

I wanted to! :tantrum: But with the weather being what it is - I realllly didn't want to drive all that way to walk around in rain & all that muckiness.

I'm painting trim, instead. I needed to get it done anyway.

Well, I was. I took a break for lunch. Hah!

Well, we went yesterday -- along with about 300 or so other brave folks. Other than the parking area being a mud pit and the cold blustery wind, it was okay. Had some stuffed ham and it was yummy ! :yum: Didn't notice it until after we had already eaten our sandwiches, but they had stuffed ham soup. Wish I had seen that first.

Anyway, it was too cold to hang around, so we didn't stay for the shucking contest. Anyone hear who won?

The Optimists donated a bunch of leftover pints and quarts of oysters to Boy Scout Troop 793 to sell as a fundraiser. If anybody wants any, let me know.

We went yesterday and had a blast! We got there around 1 and stayed until closing.

I did notice they raised the prices of beer this year... I assume because attendance was so low. When we were leaving they had dropped the prices down to $2 a beer though.

How many $2 beers did you consume? :eyebrow:

Beer prices have gone up everywhere. We had to raise ours @ the Blessing b/c of an increase from Anheuser Busch.
