Oyster restoration...more fail.

Sounds like the hatchery just doesn't have the right equipment for mass production of larvae. The oyster only spawn when the temps are just right, water has been too warm.

When I worked in a hatchery in NY, the oyster were kept at near freezing water temps for about 2 months, then placed in a sink with very slowly increasing temp. It was rare that they didn't spawn and had very good survival rates. There was no mention of water temp conditioning, just using water straight from the river.

But that one..and the one that used to operate here in Piney Point, have had millions of dollars thrown at them for decades now...

Yeah, I kind of glossed over that for the tech aspect. You'd think after all these years they'd be doing better than they are. We were a commercial outfit with stock holders watching our performance. Didn't have to spend nearly that much to achieve good results.
