Papal Mass Living History Event...

What do you propose they do with all their "wealth and treasures"?

I propose that they do with it what Jesus probably would have done: cash it all in and use it to feed the hungry and heal the sick. Shouldn't that be the aspiration of any true follower of Christianity?

I was stuck on suitland parkway this morning because of the entourage, they just shut everything down. I turned my truck off to save gas and whipped out the camera waiting for him  I got pictures of his entourage going to Andrews but need to download them at home. He was in a black car, not the pope mobile flying down at 60mp  Don't know why I expected to see him in his popemobile again and at that rate of speed flying down the highway :roflmao:

pope schmope.... who cares

Uuuuuumm, I would say the 66 million Catholics in the United States.

Largest Religious Groups in the USA

Or maybe even some of the 1,115 million around the world.

Maybe the According to the yearbook’s newly compiled stats for the years between 2004 and 2005, the number of Catholics increasing in the world from 1,098 million to 1,115 million, a growth of 1.5 percent

Heck, as you've read here, even some non-catholics took interest.

I HOPE THAT ANSWERS YOUR QUESTION?

What's intriguing and breathtaking to me is all the evils perpetrated by the Papacy through the ages and all the wealth and treasures amassed by the institution while millions of the flock go hungry and live in shanties. It's perverted hypocrisy at it's finest.

You are really showing your ignorance. You obviously don't know much about the catholic church other than what you are feed from the media. Do you really think the Pope is in it for the money? Did you know that Pope John Paul owned one car in his whole life? It was a 1975 Ford Escort GL.

Do you think all Catholic Priests are pedophiles? I've spoken to several non-catholics who actually most are. Rediculous. A small number have turned out to be molesters. Yes, too many. No excuse. I agree. It's sad BUT you don't have to be a priest to molest kids. We hear so much about it because it sells newspapers.

There's no need to bash the catholic church. If it makes you feel good, then you aren't a very mature individual.

I'd say it's YOU who is showing their ignorance... Both in your misspellings and in your lack of reading comprehension. Where did I mention anything about pedophile priests??? Nowhere.

Where did I say anything about the Pope being in it for the money? Nowhere. I spoke of the wealth that the INSTITUTION of the Catholic church has amassed. I know priests take a vow of poverty. But the CHURCH as an institution is the largest landholder in the world (I believe - maybe they've fallen to second) and they also hold massive troves of gold, jewels, and CASH. Is that the kind of church you believe Jesus would have set up?

Good Day, Sir. I SAID GOOD DAY!

Ok, so according to you the Vatican should sell it's treasures. To what and whom? Museums? Private buyers? So, they do that, a one time deal, and feed the hungry for like what....a year maybe? Instead, the Vatican keeps the treasures for public viewing thereby generating constant revenue to feed the hungry indefinitely. No museum or private owner is going to do that. Personally I like the Vatican's plan better, yours is just stupid. Jesus would probably agree with me. :yay:

Yup, the Church has a lot of land holdings; afterall, Catholic parishes exist the world over and the the institution is 2000+ years old. (We're not just talking the USA here.) Treasure is used to generate revenue (see above) and cash is needed to run an institution that is so large (the world is a big place dude). I'm not sure what your point is? Are you saying the Church keeps massive cash stashed away in reserve somewhere for the Pope and Bishops to wine and dine on while rolling around in a pile of gold and jewels?

If you think that's what the treasures are used for and that that is a good operating plan for a church supposedly based on the ideals of Jesus, there is no point debating this with you.

And the land holdings are made up of MUCH more than all of the individual parishes around the world. They own huge tracts of land all over the world. It's just a corrupt business set up in Jesus's name, but it doesn't operate in the way he would have wanted. I didn't see him trying to use his influence to amass as much wealth and power as possible. But whatever. Believe what you want.

You're right, there's no point because you can't argue with the logic of it.

You're right, land holdings are made up of hospitals and schools too.

Boo on the Church for offering health and education for people, Jesus would surely disapprove. :sarcasm:

Believe what you want.

Thank you, I will.
