My sympathy to his family, friends.
A tip of the hat to a true patriot.

Don't forget that his brother left the cleveland Indians to serve with the Army as well. He's still over there.
I got mixed emotions about this. Granted, Tilman is somewhat a celebrity after leaving the NFL to go to fight, he was an unknown before that though. The news should be giving us info on every single service man that is killed over there. What did THEY give up? They all have histories. They all should be celebrities in a sense. Give 'em their 15 minutes of fame. They all deserve it.
My $.02.

Does anyone else find this weird that we immortalize this man into a hero for dying for his country?
No one went out of their way before to acclaim his heroic deed of skipping the NFL and going into the armed forces. Why are we so prone to declare him a hero now when he is long gone. It's just sad.

Just an assortment of articles that recognized them both long before any was dead. They received an Espy award for courage, they were recognized as heros, etc...
This is not just because he died.
