If your retired military and they ask you to turn around because a person in your car does not have a CAC or Dependent ID due to corona issues while at conditions B. OK, I get that, so he says can you see your ID again (I thought he was checking name or something) he opens cones for u turn I start to turn and stop and point at his hand noting that you have my ID. Response is "when you turn you car all the way you can get it back". Do they really think a veteran retiree is going to floor it and head on base anyway, WTF.

A couple of thoughts and no disrespect intended.
1. How does he know you are not being coerced?
2, Sane policy applies, regardless of your former status.
3. Please don't take this the wrong way, some of the people who have done the most damage as spies were military. Just because someone wore or wears the uniform does not guarantee they are any more loyal than a civilian employee or a contractor.

Please pick one and don't argue with security, they are following guidelines handed down to them.
The people you are holding up will appreciate your cooperation.

That is ridiculous. We looked up the regs this morning and of course there are two - both contradictory. My husband and I both have Ids. Our son who is 23 does not but still lives with us . We go fishing and kayaking on Pax every year (18 years). We have bought our licenses and are ready for this season. It's also a Monday so we wouldn't be trying to sneak him into the commissary to buy chicken.

But isn't that the same as before? We could bring people on as long as they were escorted. There are two different navadmin policies!

All you have to do is take them to the pass office and get them a pass.

How do they know you were not going to break in the commissary for chicken? And speed past the guard, while he is holding your ID.

I thought Pax Security had a no contact order concerning ID cards. We were instructed to hold them up and turn them when ordered so both sides could be viewed.

Pax issued guidance a few weeks ago that until further notice nobody could "sponsor" someone aboard the air station, meaning each person coming thru the gate needs an ID or current and valid visitor pass. Period.

OK, but why are they confiscating my retired ID until I turn around. I guess like the first poster said in a sense INSANE. So I guess its best for all to know who did not get the memo, now they need a visitor pass for all their visiting family or non ID kids that were forced to come back home do to corona. I hope the pass is more than just one day. I just posted the thread for information, thanks all.

We didn't get the info because my husband works in the Pentagon but we live down here. He's retired (25 years) and now works for the Navy as a civilan but he's only 57. Our son has lived with us all his life and is taking classes at CSM. We have all had background checks done on us.

Not the actual numbers but I have been in that situation when I had mine upside down accidentally when taking six teenage boys to the bowling as a graduation get together.

Not the point, his intention for asking the second time was to confiscate my retired ID until my car faced heading off base after he saw passenger could not access. Yea I know what your saying, stood at those gates on watch moons ago. But like i said I made this comment thread for information for all. Pretty much like I was a prisoner until I turned around, REALLY.

Doesn't matter, military brats, all of us, have no access to our childhood homes when we turn 18.. NONE of us. Unless of course we choose to serve.

None of my 4 adult children have access to any base...

To me, getting mad at the gate guard is like getting pissed at the cashier - they don't make the rules, don't give them a hard time.
