Perfect fall weekend

On the island.,..off shore and off the grid. A more perfect fall weekend, weather-wise, I can't recall.

Fishing was only so-so....but we did catch some perch.

It was so nice I threw some seeds in the ground. Leeks, spinach, radish, salad greens. Probably won't do anything, but I had the seed.

Nice days make me do crazy things.

Yup, real nice weekend. Good drying, so I shampooed the carpet for 2 days. Fun times.

I spent most of today under the hood of the Jetta trying to chase down gremlins in the boost system. It still runs better than a non-turbo diesel and the MPG hasn't dropped terribly, but it isn't quite "right". I believe I may be in over my head as far as direct injection fuel systems are concerned. I may just treat the symptoms as long as I can and drive it until it dies a slow death. But, it was nice weather wise.

Took a nice hike out to the beach at Calvert Cliffs yesterday. Beautiful day for it.

Walked my 5K yesterday and today. Awesome weather for it - not too hot or humid. Even grilled chicken tonight so I'd have it for the week.

I had my sister here from Nashville. She was so excited. Yesterday we went to Bowles Farm. Weather was perfect.
Beautiful weather all week except Thursday. I needed that break. She wore me out. It was a great visit.

I was able to hang sheets on the line to dry...love that feeling/smell!
We went for a drive in the Nova (beautiful day for a Sunday drive on some backroads) and husband took me for a drink at Antoinette's Garden in Leonardtown. Had their fall special Apple Cider Mule which was delicious. After that he told me we were going to visit his parents. Now I know why he took me for a Sunday afternoon drink!

Another super weekend start.... beautiful outside. Finally got the rest of the front garden weeded and mulched.

Picking crabs today...it's time for my annual large batch of crab cakes. Some of them are huge too...why I like to pick them this time of year.

My brother-the-carpenter saves cardboard that size for our crab eating. Much better than paper on the table.

A couple guys here at the Port are still going out crabbing. I’ll have to see what they are catching. Maybe bat my eye lashes and see if they are willing to part with a dozen or so

Shoot..the big males are running like crazy. My guy has most of his pots over around Ragged Point area; he told me yesterday that he could have easily put 15-16 bushels of huge males on the boat the other day were it not for the limit.

Not too shabby a yield for only a half bushel of crabs... In to the fridge now and par-fry tomorrow, then vacuum bagged.
