Personal AirBag Saves Biker

I predict that they will make these mandatory someday just like the helmet law. Not a bad idea, but I'll bet it's hot during the summer.

I don't know anyone personally, that wears one (at least i don't think I do).. but my brother and i were talking about it.. Stop, get gas, to to walk into the gas station and forget to unlatch the tether.. POP!!!

Staypuff marshmallow man in the Sheetz parking lot..

That draws a real funny picture in my head.... POOOOOF!

No doubt... on both counts.

...they will make one that attaches to the brand new AC on the bike. :lmao:

It won't be long and there will be a full body suit that is bullet proof, supports your joints and is comfortable and affordable.

Not only did this jacket probably save his life, I'm thinking it'll save his wallet too! I see big $$ signs from the maker of this jacket using him as a marketing tool. Might have just been his lucky day in more ways than one.

...manufacturers will get with the insurance guys and their congress people and, before long, there will be discount rates!

Discount rates? That would only work in a capitalist society. If this catches on, it will go the same way as helmets and seatbelts: mandated by the legislatures.

Especially here in the Maryland SSR.

You guys are aware that the new GoldWing has an optional airbag? Already in production.

that airbag does you NO good when you and the bike are seperated.. like in this scenario.. and bouncing down the asphalt..

The effectiveness of the Gold Wing's airbag is much in debate as it only helps in VERY limited scenarios.. Granted it COULD save your life, but only if you have the perfect accident for it to work..

The jacket works in a multitude of scenarios.. and the accident above is a perfect illustration.

Many bike manufacturers experimented with installing airbags, but for some reason Honda is the only manufacturer to implement the idea and on only one model of bike.

I agree with you, wasn't touting it as something every bike should have. I personally wouldn't get one. I was just throwing that out there as part of the legislation questions. One vendor starts, how many others follow along? How long before the insurance companies make it a "must have" even in spite of the shortcomings? I think the vest has possibilities, however.

I'm curious to see how effective the Honda air bag is in everyday riding, and see if other's follow suit..

Video of Honda airbag in side collision with car.. actually like the idea of having it around here.. Someone pulling out in front of you at a driveway or stopsign it might save your life. I don't think it states how fast the bike is going in the video though.

...on another model that has even more protection. It has side columns to mount bags for side collisions and two extra wheels for stability plus a roof for over head safety.

The working name, at this point, is;

...Car
