Pet Sitter in Prince Frederick?

Hi, sorry to hear about your unfortunate encounter with the so-called pet sitter (esp johnjrval424). I'd like to offer my help. I've been pet sitting for 3 years while working at an animal hospital. I am currently pursuing the route to become bonded and insured, as I will be starting a pet sitting business servicing the tri-county region. I have excellent references and look after cats, dogs, ferrets, and horses! (just please don't ask about spiders, lol). I even do meds and insulin shots.

Hi gocheysun,

I have owned a Pet Sitting Company in St. Mary's County for four years and am a member of a Southern Maryland Association for Professional Pet Sitters (SMAPPS).

When you get your business started, please consider joining us. Here is the link to the SMAPPS website: Southern Maryland Association of Professional Pet Sitters.

The Pet Nanny (Pam Bowie) is fantastic! She's the only pet sitter that I really know well enough to recommend. Many of my customers use her though and they always have great things to say about her when they've come home. She's very professional and has a great way with dogs. She's also very observant so I'd personally feel confident that if one of my dogs was injured or ill she'd notice immediately.

:yeahthat: We use Pam for our two dogs (and cats). One dog is not good with strangers but loves Pam. She will spend time with the dogs, give them a back rub, clean the cat litter, bring in the mail, turn lights on and off, water plants, etc. She leaves "report cards" for each visit which is nice and fun to read with you return home. She is great and the price is reasonable IMO. Also bonded and insured.

I've heard great things about the Pet Nanny. She is one who I refer to in Calvert County. I have not had the opportunity to meet her yet though.

I am looking for a responsible, bonded, insured pet sitter in the Prince Frederick area. I have looked at Pet Sitters International (website) and three of the people I contacted are no longer in business.

I did find someone within 3 miles and contracted with her for our last vacation but I am skeptical about how many times she visited. I told her that we would not be returning until late Saturday evening (8:00 pm to be specific) from our last vacation and when we returned home (at that time), she had not made the evening visit. Our poor puppies eyes were floating and our cat had no food. It appeared that the litter box had not been cleaned for a few days also.

I have seriously thought about starting a business like this myself due to the fact that (1) there doesn't seem to be very many people who do it, and (2) the ones out there don't seem to do a real good job. However, I also understand that there is a lot of responsibility that comes along with it which is why I haven't pursued it because I'm not sure I could make that commitment at this time.

Does anyone have any recommendations? We are going on vacation again in May and I need to get someone lined up.

Thanks!
And I get red karma for this? After all this time? The moron didn't even sign it...so, I guess that means it didn't happen?

I never speak ill of any of my clients, actually I lucked out everyone is a client at our animal hospital. I just thought the cat story was cute. I actually enjoy the cats, and I don't remeber saying anything bad....

Pam is great! I have been referring her since I opened in Nov and have had SEVERAL very happy customers come back and thank me. A lot of people do not realize there is an alternative to boarding.
I know there are a lot of other good sitters out there but I feel blessed that we lucked out with the 1st one we tried since moving here! I trust her in my home and with my fur kids. She is someone that is meant to be offering this service because she obviously loves what she does and is pretty darn good at it!!

A Purrfect Way Pet Sitting (410.610.4861) has been around for 8+ years. If she can't help you with your times and date, she can let you know about other pet sitters in the area.

I read your message a few days ago, but could not respond until I registered. The reason i'm responding is that I now live in Prince Frederick and had been a vet tech for 14 1/2 years until April 07, only because I had spinal surgery. I love animals and am a very responsible adult. So if you have not found anyone and would consider allowing me to look after your pets just let me know and we can arrange a meeting so you can meet with me and I can also meet your pets.
