Has confinement issues..
I just bought a hobby farm out west, I was thinking of getting a few chickens for eggs. I'd get too attached to ever kill them for meat though. That and I can't even clean a fish without feeling queezy :lmao:

A hobby farm is funny:ohwell:

Why get a farm if you don't intend to or have the nuts to work it?

I have 4 parakeets and a beagle..If I were trapped in a blizzard...I'd pluck and skin 'em if I had to.:yum:

No farms, no food. I saw that on a bumber sticker last week.

The nuts? Geeze, hostile much? I have no desire to run a farm that's why. I wanted the acres for privacy, and room for a couple ponies for the kids and maybe a horse for me someday depending on how my back holds up. I guess if my kids were hungry I would butcher what I had to but with money in the bank and a grocery store handy I don't anticipate that contingency. Unpleasant prickly sort arn't ya? :eyebrow:

No, by nuts, I meant that farming is very hard work. Calling a farm a hobby makes very little sense to anyone who's actually spent time on one.

How many acres are in a typical hobby farm?

I would guess it could prevent the land from being developed into a strip mall for some time. That's a good thing. So have at it:yay:

Just the tip of the top part of the beak is removed. They can still eat, drink, and function like a normal chicken. Debeaking just helps prevent them from hurting other chickens.

They cut off the tip of their peckers? OUCH!:lmao:

Are these animals edible? They don't look as tasty as a good ole chicken breast from Popeye's or a big juicy cheeseburger. Are they rabbits? I can't tell. I don't think I've ever tried rabbit. Do they taste like chicken?

Looks like a mixture of cottontails and jackrabbits. The little ones are the cottontails and they are pretty tasty. You wouldn't mistake them for chicken though. I ate a lot of them as a kid.
The bigger ones are jackrabbits and as far as I have determined, inedible.

Everyone should be a farmer. Then no one would complain about how/where their food was raised or grown.:yay:

My uncle once had a bumper sticker stating----When you gripe about the farmer, don't talk with your mouth full....:howdy:

But look at it this way- does eating an unhealthy animal make you healthy?
No matter your opinion on if it's OK to eat animals or not, if you saw where your dinner came from you'd lose your appetite.
And from a more right-wing approach to the issue contemplate this: most of the cheap feed given to animals that are raised for food is cheap because of heavy government subsidies. That money is not going to family farms either.
Oh for christs sake. Pull the cucumber from your ass. :duh:

What "unhealthy" animals are we eating?? :smack:

I think I'm going to dust off the guns and join Gumby in a good ole duck hunt. Just so I can KILL something!!! :yahoo: :yay:
