Homicide Unit detectives are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred early Sunday morning in Camp Springs. The victim is 47-year-old Darryl Hazel of Suitland. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case.


On April 7, 2024, at approximately 3:15 am, officers responded to the 6300 block of Suitland Road for the report of a shooting. Officers located Hazel outside suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Detectives are working to determine a motive and identify a suspect(s). Preliminarily, detectives do not believe this was a random crime.
