PGPD PGPD Searches for Driver & Vehicle Involved in Fatal Hit-and-Run in Suitland

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit would like to speak to anyone who witnessed or has information on a fatal pedestrian hit-and-run that occurred Saturday night in Suitland. The deceased pedestrian is 33-year-old Carlos Maltez, Jr. of Suitland.

On June 18, 2022, at approximately 11:50 pm, patrol officers were called to the intersection of Silver Hill Road and Suitland Parkway for the report of a collision involving a pedestrian. Once on scene, they discovered Maltez unresponsive in the roadway. He was pronounced dead on the scene.


The preliminary investigation reveals Maltez was crossing the street when he was stuck by an unknown vehicle traveling southbound on Silver Hill Road. The driver of the striking vehicle did not remain on the scene. Based on evidence at the scene, the involved vehicle sustained front-end damage and would be missing its passenger side mirror. The vehicle may be gray in color.
