Pitt Bulls

Pix, you're being a tard. When the news guys show pics of a kid who's been mauled by a pitbull, I believe it. When they do stories on them, I believe that too. If that's "buying into media hype", oh well.

Why are you so passionate about this subject? All Cari did was give her opinion and you started going off.

I work at a vet hospital and I would rather see a pitt than a chihuahua. ALL dogs have it in them to be agressive. I the dog knows it's boundaries and it's manners, you'll have yourself a great dog no matter the breed.

I'm afraid of them and I don't trust them. I don't care what pit bull owners say. I've seen them in action and I've read too many stories. I don't care how docile it is now, I wouldn't be able to trust it.

:yeahthat:

I personally believe that it is all in how the animal is raised and socialized that determines which category they fall into.

I've seen stories, though, where the dogs were raised in great homes with great owners - and still they turned on them and attacked one day.

And that is why I posted farther down the page, "The key is that they are animals, thus unpredictable and one must exercise caution when around them (whether or not they are your pets or not). "

My friend got a pit bull thinking he would spoil it rotten and show people that it is all about how the dog is raised. He succeeded for the most part and raised a playful happy dog. However it seems as though there are traits that are bred into the dog that will always be there there. Just like how my border collie will naturally try to herd everything and nip at heals without any training. This dog does not like to be messed with by strangers when he is sleeping on the floor. Now, most dogs don’t. However, this dog goes a step farther when it snaps. This dog will draw blood and does not hold back when it snaps. I learned the hard way and it bit my lip open when I tried to move him from the couch. His dog also is very nice to other animals. However, when it does snap, it has killed a cat that it used to get along with. My friend is aware of all these traits and has learned to keep his dog under control at all times. It has since never bit anyone or killed anything. On the other hand, I have a dog that herds children and passes gas as she runs up the steps.

I’m not scared of his dog. I just don't trust it around my cats.

I just thought I would share my experience and opinion.

What's really amazing is that dog types in English. My dog can't do that yet.
