I'm not so sure an apology would make any difference. His words are out and an apology would change nothing. He is entitled to his feelings on the matter but typically high-ranking officers are supposed to keep such sentiments to themselves. He should have kept his mouth shut.Lenny said:

I am with ya! Gays are allowed their opinion but heterosexuals arent.....you don't see me holding a straight pride parade, or million man march....if we did...WE WOULD HAVE TO APOLOGIZE!

I don't understand why anyone would view homosexuality as immoral. Isn't morality about actions that help or harm others? By that standard, I wouldn't compare homosexuality with adultery since the latter is about deception and betrayal.
PsyOps has a point. When officers criticize policy in public, is that considered insubordination? I remember reading about rules to that effect. Pace's comments could be seen as critical to the don't-ask-don't-tell policy, but I'm not the judge as to whether he was out of line.
In any case, whether or not he is allowed to speak his mind on the issue, he has a right to his personal opinion about homosexuality. Personally, I don't think it's worth getting upset that some people are gay. It's not like gays go around telling straights they are going to burn in hell.

It says plainly in the bible that that behavior is wrong in the eyes of God! Anyone who says being gay is normal or natural are full of ####! I refuse to have this
shoved in my face day in and day out! Its just as sickening and discusting as incest, rape, murder, child abuse, etc. I could go on for hours about this but I won't. Say what you will about me but this is one of my biggest pet peeves!

One problem this creates is Gen. Pace has to work with civilians. Civilians don't fall under the same policy regarding gays, so there is a big possibility that Gen. Pace would have to work with gay civilians. Can you imagine the atmosphere this must create? A person of his authority has an obligation not air his opinion when holds such positions of power. If one gay person that works for him gets fired, they would now have easy grounds to prove they were discriminated against.Tonio said:

Very good point. It’s amazing to see how some folks selectively reference the Bible in order to back up their viewpoint regarding gays and lesbians.
