Strung Out
There's a local pizza place I like but I think of it as kinda pricey; a 16" with pep/saus/mush/green peppers and onions, with tip, if I get delivery, is nearly $25.

So, off to the store I went to make one at my way and do some math;

Don Pepino sauce (used the whole can) $2.19
Boboli thin crsut $4.00
pretty much 8 oz of mozz $3.00
Most of a pound of ground sausage $2.00
1/2 fresh tomato $1.00
1/2 thing of fresh mushroom $1.00
1/3 package of fresh spinach $1.00

Total goods; $14.00
Less cooking

So, while I was surprised it costs as much as it did (I am not much noted for spending much time considering grocery prices) it's still a good bit less than call out and, my pizza had a HELL of a lot more stuff on it and was a better pizza. I shoulda taken a picture; sum##### musta been 2" high.

My Sweetest Boy
I've been making my own pizza for years. Most of the time I use the Pillsbury pizza dough (in the roll section) and either make a tomato sauce mixture or if I'm in a hurry, I'll use Ragu or some other jar sauce and add things to it. I spray the pizza pan with Pam, etc. and lightly coat it with cornmeal. I precook the crust for about 5 minutes and then put the sauce, whatever and cheese on it and then cook for about 9 minutes....all at 425.

I've been experimenting with variations of homemade dough for the crust. I've been using a combination of regular flour and semolina..the first batch turned out really good. The other day I tried to double it and ended up getting disgusted and tossed it in the trash.

Ya know, I used to buy those Chef-B'r-Dee(sp), make your own pizza mixes, in the box, and doctored it up from there.....I guess they still make those. Haven't looked in a while....

Lem Putt
Don Pepino sauce (used the whole can) $2.19
Boboli thin crsut $4.00

Sauce - one can of tomato sauce, sprinkle on some oregano and garlic powder, or fresh garlic if you have it. Drizzle with some extra virgin olive oil. Less than $1.00

Crust - two cups flour, one cup warm water, one packet yeast, one TBSP olive oil, one TSP salt, one TSP sugar, mix well, let rise 1/2 hour, press into an oiled cookie sheet or pan. About $1.00.

You can do it. It's actually fun.
