When I was a kid, my God-sisters had a dairy allergy. They got to have Kool-Aid in their cereal. Sis and I had to have milk, which bummed us out.
Maybe he was referring to the fake stuff made with corn syrup.

I'm making it my business to not purchase anything that has that as part of the name or description, especially if it's obvious that it's made from "real plants" and I didn't need to be told. Bread, talking to you. And you, oranges. Mascara? You too.
You know who the market is for this labeling though - brain dead progbots who think there might be meat in their avocados, so they'll pay extra for plant-based ones. That's why the body lotion I saw yesterday made sure to tell proglodyte consumers it's plant-based. "Oh, thank god my t-shirt is made from plants and not meat!"

For your face paint, the plant-based label has to do with whether or not the product is tested on animals, not whether there is meat in your foundation. This isn’t hard to understand - for the vast majority of us.

It happens that I have been purchasing mascara for about 45 years - probably not the same brands you use, though - and when the product has not been tested on animals, it reads: "We do not use animal testing" or something specific of that sort.
