Planting seeds

I was in Southern States yesterday and it seemed like a very inviting idea to buy a bunch of vegtable seeds and plant them and stick with it this year, unlike other years, I buy the seeds with good intentions, but then they rot somewhere because I bought them and forget about them or simply lost interest. But this year I'm determined to give it a try. Yesterday I bought sweet corn, lima beans and some sort of sting beans. When do I plant these and how deep and how far apart? I can get the hang of it after I figure out that part. :huggy:

I definitely don't have a green thumb, but the package doesn't give the information? You could look the info up online.

This is my way of looking it up online

No instructions on the seed bags... its not like seed packets where they have instructions, its big seethrough bags full of seeds.

You won't be able to plant beans and corn until late spring. But you can take this time to begin prepping your garden area...

THIS WEBSITE will get you pointed in the right direction. Remember, when it comes to planting, you have to follow the rules and hints for your "zone"(Southern Maryland).

Plant in the Spring. Seeds need a soil temp of 68 degrees F or better to germinate. So obviously it needs to be warm out. I've started seeds pots in the house around late Feb. Had big enough plants to stick in the ground around Mar. if the weather cooperated. Use to grow all my plants from seed in a covered seed bed outside, but it just wasn't cost effective. Only advantage was that I could buy and grow the plants I wanted.

Thanks for clearing that up. I thought it was a great idea that way I can get started in this while I still have the interest. Guess it'll wait until late March. :huggy:

Where to start? :jameo:

I'll come back to this later when I have more time.

Okay!!! Anybody around know anything about gardneing??? I'm ready!!! I even bought my first pair of leather gardening gloves!! I have all my bags of vegtable seeds laid out (limabeans, corn and greenbeans) and flower bulbs (10 Columbine bulbs and 5 Amathyst bulbs) that are ready for planting. The grass was tilled over about 4 days ago and raked out. I'm ready for my first garden  I went to Southern States and picked up 3 large bags of TopSoil - Miracle grow. Is that okay to put ontop of vegtable seeds? Or should I just put that on top of my bulbs? How far do I shove everything into the ground? Do I water it afterwards? (Tomorrow we are expecting rain) How much dirt do I throw on top or can I just use the topsoil for everything??? :jameo: :jameo: :jameo: None of my things I'm planting have directions :jameo: :jameo:

Well that would be obvious... but it doesn't have instructions, it just says "Southern States" all over it "seeds that really grow" some sort of guarantee in fine print and "do not use for food, feed or oil" :ohwell:  You're saying to plant each seed at a different depth? Is that so their roots dont get tangled with the one next to it? Thanks! :flowers:
