Looks Like they'll be banned in Frisco. I am all for it. Wish they would do it here. bags

If they ban them here what am I going to put in the small trash cans in the bath and half bath?

Aren't the current plastic bags biodegradable?? And don't they degrade as fast or faster than paper bags?

I don't care how fast they degrade, they look like crap lining 235 near Giant and Target and I've had to rescue a seagull trapped in one.
I think their reason, though, is to save petroleum. You have to make up your mind folks, save a tree or save a barrel of oil.

I don't think that they degrade quickly, but the problem is that NOTHING degrades after it's compacted into a landfill. No air or water gets down to it.

I like plastic, it lets me carry lots of groceries all at once. If we go back to paper, I'll be spending half of Saturday hauling in grocerys from the car. Who cares if theyre bio degradable. You want to pick on something, lets talk about the restauants styrofoam containers. What ever happened to a paper doggie bag.

Styrofoam is bad, but I have yet to see one hanging way up in a tree or entangled around a bird.

I dont have any magic answers, I just perfer plastic for my grocerys. Sorry. Ban all other forms of plastic if you like but save the grocery bag. The only thing I remember paper bags being good for was covering my school books with them.

I know nothing
Everyone should be made to purchase thier own canvas bags and bring them to the food store. This would do away with paper and plastic bags. Save our oil and trees at the same time.

It would promote job growth, help the environment and lower taxes.

SO what I get from this, is outlawing plastic bags will do nothing and actually hurt the environment if instead we use paper bags. The only good will come if we ban both paper and plastic and force consumers to use reusable bags. WOW, Germany has had it right for the past 30 or 40 years..

:jinx: :lmao:

We reuse our plastic bags for all sorts of things - wastebasket liners, scooping the catbox, lunch bags, etc. I hope they don't get rid of them.

Just to :elaine: a little bit, it can be argued that you ARE saving a tree by using the paper. Most paper (at least as far as I know) comes from pine forests that were planted for the purpose of making paper. Stop buying paper, and that forest gets paved over and developed.

I have to agree with you on this one. We use those plastic bags for all kinds of stuff. They are great for carrying lots of groceries too AND they are free.

I don't think we have anything to worry about here for a long time. This ban was in San Francisco, no where near the real world.
