Hire a couple of mexicans.....I honestly don't think they can catch it!

Never burn poison because of the risk of inhalation.

If you must do it yourself. I reccommend ortho poison ivy killer and a sprayer from So. States

Follow the dang destructions and mix it accordingly. In a week or two it will be dead and you can remove it with gloves and caution.

BTW are you sure it is poision ivy?

Yes, they purchased the land a few years ago (before the market went crazy) and last year when they came out poison ivy had covered the entire path way to the water.

They have sold their house in California and will be moving out here in about 6-9 months, so they were hoping to walk the lots and get some stuff set up to have it perked and talk to a few builders.

Will i have to remove it? Could i just spray it with that stuff and it be dead and done with?

Last year I just sprayed it and left it, within a few weeks it was dead and gone.

With 6 - 9 months to work on it, I'd buy the stuff, and spray the trails and two or three feet on either side maybe two or three times over the summer. you should be in great shape by then.

I guess I worded that wrong. They will be out to visit next month and then moving out here in 6-9 months.

So is it still ok to just spray it this weekend? Do you think it will be dead enough for us to walk back there? Were not planning on having a pic nic or anything just walk around the property :lmao:

Just wear long pants, etc, and don't rub up against it. Check for ticks when you are done! Deer ticks especially.

:yeahthat:

Spray today, and wear long pants next month while exploring.. and if it's thick tall grass and brush tape your pant legs, that will help keeping the ticks out, won't do much for the ones dropping out of the trees though..

I asked River Rat last night what she uses to get rid of poison ivy, she said calmine lotion.

I realized too late the misunderstanding and will ask again tonight.

Oh, you just reminded me...there's this stuff called Tecnu...it's great for poison ivy on skin. I think you use it to wash with after you think you have come in contact with PI.

I'm embarrased to say that I wouldn't know what poison ivy looked like if it slapped me in the face. I've looked up pictures but never retain the image well enough that I could identify it. :lmao:

Just look out for anything with 3 shiny leaves. Better to be safe than sorry.

I think I must be immune to it or something; though I don't want to test that theory. I thought it was a right of passage for all kids to get it at least one. I never did. I'll still tromp through woods/brush without looking for it. I'm much more concerned with creepy crawly bugs. :jameo:
