Pokémon Go, explained

It's freaking terrifying and amazing how these sorts of things are developing. My sweethearts son has it on his phone and showed us. Crazy. He showed up at a local bar with 4 other people, in the parking lot, chasing one of these things. There's gonna be altercations.

I suppose it's another app NSA will use to keep tabs on us and to be exploited by hackers to make people unhappy.

On one hand, it's good there's an app that encourages people to get up and move beyond swiping their thumbs or tilting their phone like a steering wheel.

On the other hand, so many people are so addicted to their phone and electronics in general.

I got rid of all social media accounts simply because I couldn't stand the overall negativity and stupidity of most people. I've found it pretty damn nice.

I have an idea. We build an app, see, right, and, what it is this; a little thing bounces around from the fry machine to the soda dispenser to the burger rack to the cash register and so forth, see, and, what happens is that the more you follow it and capture it by serving all those items to other players, we can call them....I dunno...customers...and what happens is, the more of the little thingies you chase around and capture and serve, the more points you get and the points are redeemable for credits on your credit card and you can spend them on things like food, rent and cloths.

Whaddya think?????

It already has. This was on the news this morning. Apparently there is a mode that let you know who else is in the area tracking these things. The bad guys see this, sit in wait for unsuspecting people, then rob them. It will get worse because people are stupid, going out at 1am into dark alleys, completely oblivious to the potential harm they could get into.

Actually, the late news explained it better. Anyone can create a 'lure' to bring the mons to you. The perps create a lure. The lure is seen by others chasing the mons and head towrds the lure. The perps wait for people to show up. 3 were arrested for doing this.

There are locations on base as well as pictures taken on base of various structures. How do these locations get in the game and the pictures? I know for damn sure if people took the pictures for the game they violated the photo policy.

It works off GPS

You know the app has only been out like 3 or 4 days and they have as many people playing the game as twitter has members.

BTW, this is ALL over the news this evening so now us old folks can feel a little up-to-date on what this is....

The game inserts the creature into your cameras image. A sort of augmented reality.

If ignorance is bliss, I am one happy camper! I heard some people talking about it a couple days ago, they tried to explain the excitement and maybe I am too old or too busy with real life $hit, but I don't get it.
Signed,
Blissfully busy and content

:lmao: Thing2 posted this and the meme I posted above on his FB page today. He is gainfully employed and has little free time these days, so I think he's checked it out and that's about as far as it went. However, as he is a child of the Pokemon cards era, Pokemon movies, TV show, and later the smart phone era - he explained the draw of the game to me yesterday. He said the app is much more fun than the video games were, because it's so interactive and it really is fun "hunting" for these Pokemon thingys.

I get it, but I don't think I would have much time for it. I never did the gardening app either, although I know many many people who did.

Some of the comments in this post are hysterical!

If you feel the need to run around playing Pokemon Go this summer, that's cool. Just be smart about it. One way of NOT playing smart is to go creeping around the Duvall PD. We have had some people playing the game behind the PD, in the dark, popping out of bushes, etc. This is high on our list of things that are not cool right now. Please remember that these are especially tense times as of the last few days. DO NOT LURK AROUND THE PD AT ANY HOUR WHILE YOU ARE PLAYING POKEMON GO- it makes an unsafe situation for you and our Officers. If you feel the need to use the PD as part of your game, just use common sense: Come on in to the lobby during busines hours and say hi and let someone behind the counter or an officer know you are looking for an imaginary critter thing and make sure that your presence is well-known for example. And remember to be polite - if you are asked not to play Pokemon go at the PD at that time then please just leave. An Officer should not be placed in a position where people are hiding in the dark when he needs to get to his patrol car a few feet away. Also, please do not play while driving. For those of you who took Mrs. Filers class, remember: safe and healthy choices!
