If ignorance is bliss, I am one happy camper! I heard some people talking about it a couple days ago, they tried to explain the excitement and maybe I am too old or too busy with real life $hit, but I don't get it.
Signed,
Blissfully busy and content

I have a walk planned tomorrow after work since my Yoga instructor is on vacay. I think I will download the app just to see how many of these things I can find on my walk.

It's a data miner disguised as a game. Accepting the app gives away a ton of privacy.

Some intended, some accidental, but a real threat.

The makers of Pokemon Go -- the insanely popular smartphone game -- were forced to make emergency fixes to the game because the app gave the company an unprecedented level of access into players' personal lives.

For some users with iPhones, signing into the game with the most convenient option -- using your Google account -- allows the gaming company to read your emails.

Son, who is 18 and sort of grew up playing Pokémon, was over at Solomons last night, said the place was packed, and that nobody under 40 was looking anywhere both through their camera phone to catch them. Said he's now an outlier since he's not into that anymore.

My takeaway is that mass numbers of people are giving away their detailed movements to some company for the pleasure of mindless entertainment.

Hanging around L'town this morning waiting for my truck to be serviced. Noticed a pair of young girls who looked like they were playing. For the best part, they just kind of stood around, very undecided which way to go.

I downloaded it just for fun.

I thought I'd play with it for a few days and delete it. I've never been into playing video games anyway but this sucker is a bit addictive. Within 2 days I have gathered up 60+ pokmons, transferred them up to make them stronger (so I currently have 36) and found 3 hard-to-find ones. I have walked all over my neighborhood and work place (during lunch of course) to find them but am amazed that just today, I have logged in almost 10 walking miles. I currently have 2 eggs in incubators and have 4.2 of the 5.0 km logged in to hatch them. I hope 1 of my eggs is Pichu. :cartwheel

:roflmao:

I read something today that said the iPhone was more at risk than the Android phones were for the data mining thing. A guy who works for us used to work for NSA. I should ask him about this when he gets back from leave.

Foxhound and I were talking about starting up walking again - I had told him we should totally give the app a try. I don't know the first thing about Pokemons though.

You're not leaving your neighborhood or going out in the dark alone, are ya? :eyebrow:

I think I would go with someone in case there are Pokemon chasing weirdos out there. :yay:

Nah... I don't go out after dark walking around.

I have an Android.

It was so funny seeing my boys in total shock that I caught 3 hard-to-catch ones. Totally worth it!

Hey, right now I am enjoying the escape into Pokmon, sure beats everything else going on in our jacked up world. :ohwell:

Stupid Pokémon Go, those beasties are freaking everywhere. I ran all over Solomons last night catching them and now there’s a butt ton running around PAX!

It’s going to be a long day…

One of the people in my office said they saw a group of obese, pale kids who look like they haven't been outside at all this year in the park catching them last night. The object is to get off your ass.
