I don't listen to Calvert much but I heard a Mutual Aide call on the St. Mary's Scanner for assistance to Appeal for a School Bus Accident.

At dismissal time today, bus #50 was exiting Appeal Elementary School when it was struck from behind by another vehicle. Early reports indicate a minor accident. Children who were on the bus at the time have been returned to Appeal Elementary School for medical evaluation and will be treated as necessary and/or released to their parents.

A car rear-ended a bus. Bus #50. I spoke with the school at it "appeared" their were no injuries at that time. The kids were getting checked out and will be released to the parents.

I heard from a parent that was at the scene the gave the driver of the vehicle a breathlizer test. Is this something they normally do just because?

Four transported to CMH. One ambulance reports two priority three. All other including two adults were signed refusals.

The truck that hit the bus was pretty messed up, but it didn't look bad enough to cause any serious injuries.

Does that bus run late or something? The crash wasn't until after 4:00.

Appeal has the worst set up for parents and busses to share during the morning and evening rush... you add the Patuxent traffic and it's a disaster waiting to happen.

There use to be a wreck a day in that area before the light was installed....:coffee:

I remember those days, I used to dread driving through that area any time of the day, it always seemed bad.

Worst setup? No, there are many that are far worse. The intersection at Appeal may be irritating, but there isn't much chance of a serious accident. I'd be more worried about Dowell or Southern Middle. It has got to be rough getting out of Mill Creek to go south. And there is nothing worse than Huntingtown High, hoping people notice the red light and don't kill somebody.

My daughter has fall softball practice at Sunderland Elementary. I dread that left turn. Getting on to southbound 4 from Mt. Harmony is no picnic either.

New comers to the county cannot believe that a deputy used to stop traffic on route 4 to allow the buses out from Northern. He would be run over the first time he tried now.

Didn't they circulate a petition after a student was killed out at that intersection?

We moved here in 87.
