Police State or something else?

Where is anyone violating anyone's constitutional rights? Nobody is forced to go through any of these searches! You choose to. How is this a violation of your rights?
Have you been following this thread or not? The pont has been explained numerous times. The government is prohibited by the fourth amendment fro performing unreasonable searches, where it's being done doesn't matter.

One officer with a wand when court is in session is reasonable and all that is necessary. A wand will detect a gun - the only real threat in a courtroom, so those explosives someone might bring in are no threat at all other than angry unreasonable people who have been wronged or think they have been wronged by the justice system. The bailiff can handle any other threats.

Are you serious? Have you been in court? Bailiff's are not security officers, and have no training to handle threats. You really don't have any experience in security measures do you?

How much do you think it will cost to equip each of our courtrooms in
Maryland with an officer to wand people? I know there are four courtrooms in St. Mary's Circuit Court. I don't know the number of P.G., Montgomery, Baltimore, but I am sure those numbers might get a little bit high.

Have you been following this thread? How is it an unreasonable search if you are purchasing a ticket and know it's going to happen before you get there. Tell me wise one, which court in this land has found this unreasonable?

Only speaking from my experience at the St. Mary's courthouse, I'm not sure they could detect explosives. Many times, they are not paying attention to those walking through. And again, speaking about St. Mary's courthouse, the four courtrooms are not always in session all at the same time. The same number of officers who currently screen would be all that is necessary, IF that's what the judges desired. But the judges do not desire that - they want every person coming into the courthouse screened so that's what we have - an inefficient system and a false sense of security.

What? Since I am NOT part of the 47%, I am forced to go through a search each time I have to go to the courthouse for non-court related business, specifically for my business THAT I BUILT - i.e. business license, bad check enforcement, real-estate records search, etc.

You are correct about the court house, but you in all your wisdom would have them spend an extra $200,000 in St. Mary's for additional officers to work the wand.

Well what do you do when all four courtrooms are in session? Can you just hire cops on a part time basis. I'm sure there are those just clamoring for that job. I think you are pretty clueless on this. I've been to the St. Mary's Courthouse and disagree with your assessment of how they do things. I think they are very efficient.

Because there is no probable cause, wether you know it's going to be done or not does not make it reasonable. The lack of a court decision doesn't make it right, they are as political as any other bunch in DC.

Or....maybe ther lack of court decision means that you are wrong and there is no fourth amendment violation. You won't consider that will you?

No there are quite a few, many who've chimed in here, who agree with me.

Unfortunately for you and them you have no standing in the legal community. Most of America are okay with security. You will call them sheep, but really, it's you and your kind, the anti authority, anti Americans who are the sheep without a shephard. I know you are wrong because the law is on my side.

And I will keep pointing out how misguided you are, hope you don't mind.

A couple of things...

if I was buying a ticket on a private airline and had to go through that company's private screening security system, then I'd say "hey, I'm choosing to do this".

However, If I am buying a ticket to fly on a private airline and the federal government is searching me and my baggage, I truly feel every single time that it is a violation of my rights as a US citizen.

That's the difference, private agency for a private business, versus random search and seizure by a federal entity at a private business.

Also, I had a TSA agent "confiscate" a hat from my suitcase in front of me because my hat was a danger to society. He just wanted my freaking hat and I still feel resentful about this. If this had been a private entity, I could have complained, but as it was a federal agent, I'm supposed to not argue.

Next, I spent several months on federal grand jury duty. Was screened every morning, along with regular employees at the court house, and fellow jurists and even the lawyers and their clients. I had on my key chain a razor blade (window punch). I went through security every single day for months with no problems. I didn't even realize I had it on my key chain until after the fact. That makes me feel warm and fuzzy and awfully secure. How about you?

These type of things do not make you secure. These type of things blind to the lack of control and freedom you have. "Oh I'm scared, therefore the government must protect me." This type of mentality brainwashes you into surrendering your rights for no valid reason.

They make me secure. I am comfortable with them. I am having difficulty believing your story about the hat. I don't care if you don't like the TSA. Don't fly.
