Police State

At face value this looks incriminating for the police but I wonder why they were towing his truck? I wonder what kind of background he has.

If he's clean, an officer should have walked over to him and explained what was going on.

...what's the context? The cops taking down that old woman and disarming her in New Orleans was outrageous. This, well, what's the story?

I'm not seeing the problem with this video. The cops were obviously at this guy's house for a reason, and I doubt it would take 6 or 8 of them to simply repo a car (plus, cops don't do that anyway). So drugs? Something else?

I thought the comments by the freaks were interesting. They automatically assume that this clip of video is what it was labeled as - Innocent Man Gets Beaten by Cops.

Here's more:

The guy is obviously drunk and apparently keeps setting off his car alarm in the middle of the night, which I'm sure the neighbors don't appreciate. Guy stands there arguing with the cops instead of going in the house like they told him - sounds like a justified ass-beating to me.

AH HA!!! I watched 1/2 of it and had seen enough.

Did you see the title? "Six Cops Beat a Man at his Home Without Cause" :faint: He got what he deserved.

That's effed up how short clips get uploaded way out of context.

The Rodney King video was the same way. Hopped up dude gets popped and tries to fight with the cops, so they take him down. In that video you can actually see where King keeps trying to get up, even with all those cops on him.

Alas, perception is reality and if the captioner says this man was beaten for no reason, people will believe that rather than their own eyes.

Yeah he is just a stand up guy doing his job

more on this officer from a .pdf

Police Officer Aldrich - CSC Third Degree and Misconduct in Office Warrant Charged
Police Officer John Aldrich, 40 of Melvindale has been charged with one count of Criminal Sexual Conduct Third Degree and two counts of Misconduct In Office in connection with a April 11, 2005 sexual assault of a Melvindale woman. It is alleged that while on duty Officer Aldrich had non-consensual sex with the female and in return fixed a ticket for her.
Criminal Sexual Conduct Third Degree carries a maximum of fifteen years in prison and Misconduct In Office is a common law offense that carries a maximum of five years in prison.
“We expect our police officers to uphold the law. The type of misconduct alleged in this case is always troubling. Officer Aldrich has used his authority to prey upon the people he vowed to protect.
“Anyone who knows me is well aware that I’m not going to shy away from holding law enforcement officers accountable for criminal conduct” said Prosecutor Worthy.

Regarding the first video, yeah he was a drunk PITA but how can you justify a beating like this on his own property?

Yes, I deleted once I did the google. It was probably done as you were responding.

But I have to ask, shouldn't there be a conviction by now if Aldrich was guilty of the sexual charges?

???

Got me just found that interesting, still the fact remains that he bashed a non-combative "subject" in the head for essentially not obeying a "direct police order" while stnding on his own property. There is no way that can be justified and it just proves my point that we are on that slippery slope to a police state by the fact that no corrective action was given to the officer.

I have family as LEO's I know they put up with a lot but this and other incidents like it are over the line.

One would think, unless it was horse crap like so many of these rape/assault charges are.

Was this beating video taken before the alleged rape? Because it couldn't possibly have been taken after - even if the cop hadn't gone to trial yet, certainly he'd be on administrative leave and not out busting heads.

What part of this am I not understanding?

This sh*thead was given several chances to go back in the house and was warned that he would be arrested if he didn't. When they arrested him, would it have been better that the less than cooperative idiot hurt an officer or two first, then let the others come in? I don't think so. He chose to get arrested and chose to resist.

Who cares what the cop was charged with before. What does that have to do with this incident. Who cares if the poor little idiot got a few bumps and bruises. Better him than the police anytime. I didn't see anything "over the line" here. I wish I was there to tell the cops they did a good job.

Great attitude, part of the reason our rights are treaded on is an attitude like this.

So you think it is ok for cops to smash people in the head for simply not listening to an order to go back in your house while standing on your own property?

I agree the guy was a PITA but if you can't see that what the cop did was over the line then.........

It is funny I am on an island here, this same thread on another board I belong to that generally has the same concensus as this site as gone totally the opposite way on this video.

AK, I can't see where the cop was over the line, either.

Cops come to tow the offending vehicle away.
Drunk owner starts raising cain.
Cops warn him to back off.
Guy charges down the steps, approaching the cops.
Cops warn him again.
Guy stands there and argues.
Cops finally give him a wood shampoo.

It doesn't matter that the guy was on his own property. If cops enter your *own house* you're STILL not allowed to confront them and disobey an order. Did you read the pdf I linked to above?

If the guy just listened, he would have been just fine. In the old days, people knew they'd get thumped if they didn't obey the police. Perhaps the strikes are a little too much some times but I will always side with the police when an a**hole is not cooperating. It doesn't matter whose property it is. If the Police were there legally, then they should have the right to control the situation by barking out orders, and the a**hole should obey.

Police beating videos are generally always edited by the media, cutting out all the before and after stuff, just giving the public the piece of video that shows the big bad cops beating on a poor citizen. I would venture to say that if most of us could ride a long (I have) with an officer on a busy Saturday night in a bad area of town, we'd have a whole different view of and respect for the police. You don't get the whole picture by watching a video. You get the "story" told by the liberal media. Showing you the whole video would be boring to most people and that wouldn't sell papers and get people to watch the news.

Yes, I hate the liberal media and am skeptical when reading anything in the paper. I have been interviewed for articles and have been amazed how the words I've said were changed or left out because they just weren't the words the reporter was looking for.

Believe what you watch and read, if you will. I have learned and believe I am smarter. Again, I side with the Police on this one. And, no it has nothing to do with that ticket I got out of a few weeks ago. Just remember! It pays to keep a box of donuts in your passenger seat. :lmao:
