Police to search for guns in homes

Ubi bene ibi patria
"Boston police are launching a program that will call upon parents in high-crime neighborhoods to allow detectives into their homes, without a warrant, to search for guns in their children's bedrooms.

The program, which is already raising questions about civil liberties, is based on the premise that parents are so fearful of gun violence and the possibility that their own teenagers will be caught up in it that they will turn to police for help, even in their own households.

"I just have a queasy feeling anytime the police try to do an end run around the Constitution," said Thomas Nolan, a former Boston police lieutenant who now teaches criminology at Boston University.

Sounds like a good idea, doubt if anybody signs up for it unless they're given immunity from prosecution if the cops find anything.

Watch for the ACLU to jump in on this one. They must protect the criminals! And, speak of the devil, why haven't they jumped on the right to carry bandwagon, so that more bad guys can carry guns???

Sounds like idiotic parents to me, you mean you would allow the cops in your home and your childs bedroom to search but as a parent you wouldn't go look in the kids bedroom yourself ?! what has happened to people? I know a lot of them should have not reproduced!

Luke 21: 5 - 19 16 You will be delivered up even by parents and brothers and kinsmen and friends,

Now I wont be delivering up any of my kids nor will I volunteer my home to be searched.
I dont have yard sales at my home because I dont want people rooting through my things, I will damned sure not allow a policeman or anyone else access to my home without a search warrant.

If they would like a sandwich or a cup of coffee they are welcome, but dont go rooting through my stuff.

Agreed, parents should be handling this themselves. Letting the cops come in with no warrants is never a good idea.

I can't believe that the parents are even considering this... 1) allowing police to come in check on the kids? and 2) approving this program that circumvents the rights given to them by the constitution?

And they' aren't even embarrassed about it? Where the hell is Judge Joe Brown when ya need him??? Raise your dayum kids right! :boxing:
