"Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, our best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low-stress, non-addictive, gender-neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasion and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all. We also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2006, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make America great. Not to imply that America is necessarily greater than any other country nor the only America in the Western Hemisphere. And without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith or sexual preference of the wishee. By accepting these greetings you are accepting these terms. This greeting is subject to clarification or withdrawal. It is freely transferable with no alteration to the original greeting. It implies no promise by the wisher to actually implement any of the wishes for herself or himself or others, and is void where prohibited by law and is revocable at the sole discretion of the wisher. This wish is warranted to perform as expected within the usual application of good tidings for a period of one year or until the issuance of a subsequent holiday greeting, whichever comes first, and warranty is limited to replacement of this wish or issuance of a new wish at the sole discretion of the wisher."

:ohwell: I'm a democrat and a Christian and I celebrate a Christmas. I can see the whole "holiday" issue and people getting upset but it's something that's been going on for quite some time ... for the past 17 years at work we were always instructed when sending cards to clients and coworkers to send "holiday cards" as a pc sort of thing and was chastised when I greeted the clients with Merry Christmas. All and all I wasn't insulted by sending a happy holiday card instead of a Merry Christmas card. That means no santa on card, no Christmas tree on the card, etc.. they were boring and was just conveying a happy holiday wish and best wishes for a happy new year.

Just because "we've always done it that way" doesn't make it right.

There's an old axiom that if you put a frog in a pot of water and turn up the heat slowly enough, he won't think to jump out until he's already cooked. Looks like the conservatives are just throwing some water on the fire of political correctness.

That being said,

MERRY CHRISTMAS DEMS!

Hey RR,

Just because I am a Democrat I fit into this mold? Please, you know better than that. It isn't a "Left Wing or Right Wing" thing. Some, or should I say, most of us are pretty much "middle-of-the-road" and, in a serious debate, agree on most issues, provided you don't align your opinions with CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, WPost, WTimes, et.al, and are able to actually READ about all issues from many sources.

Been a tough two months RR, parden my outburst, I rarely engage in the political sh!t, notwithstanding working on the Hill for many years for a very middle-of the-road former (d) Senator.

Have a MERRY CHRISTMAS!! :huggy:

It's called a joke. In the immortal words of Sgt. Hulka, "Lighten up Francis."

 :smooch: What I was trying to say is I view it as a professional sort of issue - not a party issue on whether its holidays or christmas that you greet people with it.

I do feel better though - thanks!

Wait a minute... I thought that smilie meant you were burping me... :ohwell: what were you removing?

:roflmao:

NO! It was the stick from her rump, not her head. I only do sticks - heads up rumps are far too amusing to mess with.

Time for you to rescue your party, MrWeb. When the sane democrats quit following the lunatics that are now leading the party, the country will be better off.
