Pom kills child

Pomeranian Kills 6-Week-Old Girl

How tragic....

Just goes to show that any dog can bite, and every dog is potentially dangerous. Makes me wonder if this was one of those little dogs that puts on "cute" aggressive displays like you see on AFV :barf:. Peole laugh instead of fixing it.

Anyway, then we wonder how these things happen...

Can you even imagine? Ripped my heart out reading it... I can't even fathom what the parents must be feeling.

I feel bad for the person watching the child too. I guess so many people wouldn't even worry about a pom being left with a baby. :frown:

". . .found her head buried in the dog's mouth . . ."

Just how big was this Pom?

I wondered the same thing at first, but I do know despite being small they can open pretty wide.

I like how the deputy becomes an instant expert on Pomeranians.

The deputy said Pomeranian attacks are rare.

``Obviously it doesn't take much to kill a 6-week old baby but it's not something that happens with that breed,'' Solis said.

Made me wonder what breeds this does happen with.

SOMD POM MOM
Turbo your so correct even the smallest dog if agressive can cause horrible damage. In rescue I have had 2 agressive poms, both were larger 20-25lbs. While my furries are only about 5lbs I wouldn't trust them with a child alone, it could be dangerous for either one. Since mine aren't around children, when we do get around them I am very careful on who is allowed to come to close. Dog smart kids are ok for them, but ones that move quick and scream aren't allowed near them. I have been lucky none of mine are agressive, bratty PITAs yes, but if they showed even the first sign of agression in their place they would go. I have a girl and boy that are the alphas, but even they have to answer to me and I can be a real B, if needed. There are also some breeding lines in poms that are known to be agressive. They should be ended, in my opinion.

For real. Why are we talking about this?

WE don't have to? Ask yourself why YOU are talking about it. Hee hee. I saw it out there when I was scanning articles.

I found it tragic, and interesting that it wasn't one of the 'vicious' breeds. I think it makes a good point that ANY dog can bite. Just because it's an older article makes it no less relevant.

Well, I disagree. If Poms were such a vicious menace, I'm pretty sure there'd have been an incident in the last 9 years to point to instead of this one.

Here:

Woman injured in dog attack - Florida AP - MiamiHerald.com

Gun-Carrying Neighbors Save Women From Dog Attack - News Story - KTVU San Francisco

Dur. WHERE did I say Pom's were a menace?

Jeebus.

Point is it ISN'T a big, nasty, 'vicious' dog.

Hey if I post this does it mean I'm saying Boxer's are vicious?
Dog Kills Girl, 4, In Dodge County - News Story - WISN Milwaukee (this should be fun! LOL)

Or this one... Chow mixed breed dog kills child in AZ - National pet care | Examiner.com Am I saying mutts are vicious killers now?

Or this one? Unsupervised dog kills 2 year old child - KC DOG BLOG

Oh hey look here's a mastiff, they are vicious too! Grrrr! Girl Killed In Dog Attack Crawley UK Uncle Ursan Ahmed Arrested | NowPublic News Coverage

OMFG! Quick! Euthanize all those nasty JRT's! Kentucky Infant Killed by Family Dog

Give me a freaking break Vrai. You of all people putting words in my proverbial mouth?

How in the world does saying that the incident serves to show that ANY dog can be a hazard get translated into Poms being a vicious menace?

Oh shut up. What was the point of posting some 9 year old story about a killer Pomeranian? Hell, some chihuahua took a baby's face off more recently than that.

What does breed have to do with the point?

I happened to stumble on that article. So what?

There are just as many dog owners out there today as nine years ago that think that:

Because their dog is small aggressive displays are not really dangerous, or are in fact cute or funny.

Because their dog has never bit THEM, the growling and all means nothing.

Since the dog has never hurt anyone that it never will.

That since it isn't a Pit, Rott, etc they don't have to worry about it biting.

Obviously if there are more recent articles, my original point is relevant, yes? Sheesh. Focus on the date, breed, etc if you want, I'm just trying to point out that's exactly what people SHOULDN'T do.

Funny, I see violations of the rules on the forum, such as personal attacks, etc and never see you jump anyone's ass for it. But I post an older article because I didn't consider the date significant and you are all over it.

Too funny.
