I looked up the name Fredo in Italian. It means peaceful ruler.

I thought it was macaroni in a creamy, white sauce.

Well, back when the movie came out, opinions in the italian american community were split between those who liked it and those who thought it unfairly painted italian americans as uneducated thugs.

My Sicilian niece once described someone as an "Americano di colore". She said it with the absence of malice, it's just a way of describing someone that fits a certain criteria. There are a lot of other terms that I have heard both in the US and overseas that are less than PC.
