Poor Rassie

She threw up about 3:30 a.m. She has that angry red rash in her armpits again and I gave her two benedryl around 6:00 a.m. She's definitely feeling and looking better than yesterday, but not "well" yet.

Poor Rassie. Give her a hug for me.

:huggy: Glad she's doing alittle better.

My mom kept an old dog crate on her porch with a blanket in it. Bees made a hive in it and her two dogs started snooping around and got attacked by the bees. Mom and I ran out and covered them with towels to get them in. Were picking out bees (and getting stung ourselves) from their fur. Went to the vet because both were in shock. Our lab/pit's head looked like something you'd see in a cartoon with all the bumps on the top of her head.

I hope Rassie is feeling better today!

Ouch! Poor dogs!

How's the puppy now, BS Gal...?

Can't even tell anything happened. BTW thanks for those plants. Gotta figure where to put 'em.

happy to be living
Got into something that made her highly allergic. Last night around 2:00 we got up with her and her face was swollen up big time. This a.m., face was swollen and within a few minutes, she had hives all over. Couldn't feel them, but you could see them. She's on Benedryl, per the vet, and doing better, but tired. DR stayed home with her today and I'll stay with her tomorrow. The Benedryl makes her really tired. Poor baby. Her neck was so swollen I had to take the collar off.

I hope she is feeling better...this may sound like a stupid question- could her reaction be caused by poison ivy?
I have never lived in an area that has so much poison ivy and I am careful to stay out of it- and to keep Sophie out of it, too.

It's possible, I guess. I'm sure there is some in the woods around here, where she chases after the frisbee, squirrels and deer. I didn't pick any up from her though, which can happen. She's back to 100% today, but a little on the sleepy side. No benedryl since yesterday at 2:00 p.m. We'll (by that I mean hubby) will check around for poison ivy and oak in the woods. :yay:

Dogs don't really get poison ivy..they may get a little rash but not really break out like a human. They can "carry" it on their fur and humans can get it that way.

Since when?

Last time was a little bit on Thursday night. Vet called last night and I told her and she said "nothing in, nothing out," but she is eating now. Chicken and rice last night and dog food today. She doesn't seem uncomfortable, though.

I'd be just a little concerned about a blockage. Especially if she starts puking again now that she's eating. Keep an eye on her.

We will. No puking since early Friday a.m. (3:00 a.m.). I'm wondering if the benedryl has something to do with. If she hasn't gone by Monday, it's off to the vet I go.

It's Saturday...if she's eating and hasn't pooped by Monday, you've got problems. I wouldn't wait that long.

I gotta run...we have a grad party to go to this evening, I need to get in the shower and get ready.

Keep MASH/APVES number handy, just in case. She may be fine.

i don't think most animals are affected by poison ivy. but i also didn't want the dog getting into it then rubbing it all over us so i've been on a mission "operation scorched earth" to eliminate all poison ivy from my property and the neighbors property close enough to spread to mine. between using a machete, a ditch blade, the riding mower, and a lot of concentrated "deep brush killer" herbicide i'm almost done removing all traces of poison ivy.

once its gone I'll still have to stay on top of things for the next 2-3 years or it could come back if not all the roots were killed.

How is rassie doing today? Did you end up having to take her back to the vet?

She's peachy! Vet never did see her, just offered advice over the phone. She did say to bring her in if it happens again. I think Rassie has had an exhausting week between the t-storms and the allergic reaction.
