Port Tobacco Eagle Nest CAM.

I am no expert on eagles or ospreys, however, both eagle parents at Port Tobacco have been patient and feeding all the chicks..the dominant one gets full and passes out, and then the others get their share. In real life it is smelly, but all the fish in the nest = "filling the pantry" to keep the babies fed. I have been reading that the eagle's sense of smell is not so good, so I guess they can handle the fishy stench. You get close enough to any osprey nest on a daymarker in the Chesapeake and you can smell it too.

What is great right now with the nest at Port Tobacco is all the babies are the same size and seem to be doing well.

I am also watching the Dale Hallow nest (can be found on youtube) and that smallest one is days away from the biggest one killing it.
The picking and pecking are getting so awful to watch and I don't think that baby has had anything to eat in a few days. They have an active chat but nobody is allowed to say anything negative although we all know where this is going.

In my years of watching both eagle and osprey cams, it seems the eagles do a better job of feeding all of the offspring and getting them to fledgling status. It is very hard to watch a smaller one get picked on by the older, stronger siblings. 😞
I need to peek in at the falcon cam in Baltimore. I heard there were 4 eggs (typical for them). They also do a good job of getting enough food to all offspring.

I’m toying with the idea of purchasing a camera and having it mounted to view an osprey nest here in my neighborhood. Of course I can’t do it until the Fall once they have migrated, but it would be cool to get a view inside their nest.

I saw an eagle near the storage place on Willows just yesterday. Amazed the hell out of me, swooped low across the road in one direction, then back across, then back across again at least five more times before it landed and stayed there. It was flying so low I was surprised it didn't get hit.

My Mrs. said she saw an eagle there when she was driving into the office a couple weeks ago.

I think they're territorial. At any rate, there's some dead trees on Willows right by those houses that went up a few years back. The trees stand out because they look like gigantic twigs just stuck in the ground; no green on them whatsoever. There was an eagle just sitting at the very top - still there went I drove by again some ten minutes later. Coolest thing I ever saw until I saw the one swooping back and forward across the road. I pulled over to watch - don't know how people keep driving - it was just an amazing sight to me.
