I wanna be able to take credit cards for payment up on the mum hill or down the far end of the greenhouses, ie, wireless and portable, so that I or my people don't have to go all the way back to the office.
Anyone have experience with this? Suggestions? Good machines? Bad machines?
Thank you!
Most portable machines have a plug in them for a phone line, if they are not plugged in and you use the portable they will store and forward the transactions. Example, you make 50 sales and at the end of the day you batch them over the phone line to the people who process them for you. The only problem is you can get screwed by a bad card as you do not get it authorized when you swipe.
The other technology is over the web (using a secure web browser - this is what we used with a laptop andaircard) or a wireless device (credit card machine with a cell phone built in, which is expensive...)
There are only about 3-5 places in the US which are the upper tier for credit card transactions. Royal Bank of Scotland is probably the longest in the business and are really great to deal with.
