I think 11 is a bit young to be prescribing BC pills. Seriously- how could any doctors or nurse practitioners at these clinics justify giving them to a child that young? Morality aside- exsposing girls that young to the hormones in those things can't be healthy. My daughter is 10 and can't even take a Tums without my permission.
I know teenagers went to the Health Dept here for BC without parents knowing when I was a teen. At least if they get prescription BC vs picking up free condoms there is some sort of STD screening too. The downside is, if the girl goes to the regular doc and is prescribed something that interacts with the BC pills (in most cases one makes the other less effective) and does not tell for fear of parents finding out. Well, they'd certainly find out 9 months later.
