Potential Disney Disaster

One thing since we're talking about periods that I think is so gross is that the dr.'s with ask her how many pads are you soaking? Who wears something until it is soaked? What does that even mean? Last time she was asked that my wife said "I don't know anymore. I think in terms of rolls of Charmin."

I showed this to my wife and she loved it. She always felt like she was regarded as the crazy patient when they wouldn't believe her. It was really infuriating,we'd go back and forth - they would tell her she wasn't really bleeding that bad and then in the same sentence ask if she wanted surgery.
I think we're going to go on the trip early and brave the crowds. Maybe it will be a little reverse psychology - everyone is told not to go during that week so nobody goes?!

I'd consider finding her a doctor that will listen.

They can discuss options with her, especially if you are not intending to have further children. There are some less invasive procedures they might be able to try before jumping into a hysterectomy. Seriously, I know how she feels. You can't imagine the pain, but I would compare it to putting your nut sack into a vice grip and squeezing continuious for a week aulternating medium pressure to intense pressure where you think your eye balls will pop out of their socket.

thank you. That's the option I was going to say. Less invasive and I've heard it's very well received in the medical community as the number 1 option before hysterectomy. In and out and done!

She's actually had this discussion about the ablation a couple times. Her fear is actually not the procedure,it is the anesthesia. She refuses to be put to sleep for anything - she's had some intense things done with no anesthetic at all, stuff I could never do. If any of you ladies have had the procedure, please speak up about your experiences, including who did it and where. Maybe it will boost her ideas of this procedure.

I would think they could just do a epidural for that and not knock her out.

I did not have the procedure done. By the time I got to the point of needing blood transfusions to stay alive, I was past that point. If I had it to do over, I'd have had the procedure done in the beginning. I heard it really is not that bad. Chances are the cramps and pain she is experiencing now are probably worse than what she would experience after that procedure.

My doctor said he'd give me twilight which would mean I'm awake but loopy.
