potty training a boy

It was a buck to poop and a quarter to pee. He got a bad case of the craps a few weeks ago and got 8 bucks out of me in one morning. So, he now only gets 2 quarters to poop. He likes quarters better anyways. They're shiney.

:yay: I don't see anything wrong with giving kids an incentive. I went to the dollar store and got prizes that they could pick out of a bag each time they went. We didn't do this for very long, but it kept them motivated...especially my oldest. Mine are 15 months apart, so I felt like I was changing diapers forever!

Psst...I have 3 in diapers. Well, 1 is in PullUps. Same difference. :jet:

My MIL swears she had all hers trained by 18 mos. (3 boys, 3 girls), so it can be done. Boys are a lot harder and take longer than girls. I would definitely try big boy undies during the day. He will get the message when he's playing in soggy drawers. He probably isn't ready for night time though but when he is, use plastic sheets to keep the mattress dry and make sure he doesn't drink after dinner and goes potty before bed. If he is starting preschool in the fall, he will have to be trained by then so you can use that as an incentive also. Good luck!

My two oldest were potty trained at 18 months, day and night. It is possible. The baby at 2 doesn't want anything to do with the potty.

Try the Cherrios. Put a few in the toliet and have your son sink them. Worked for my son. One square of toliet tissue floating in the water will work also. Good luck

I have read that in another thread. You are brave! It sure can be rough--my oldest went through a phase where I had to chase him around to change his diaper. He would fight me! Good luck :howdy:

You're a LOON :)
I didn't mean for him to hang outside for hours with his Johnson in the wind!!!

Put on some slippers - run out and make some yellow snow and run back in!

Just make sure you de-ice the stoop or he will be pissing in the air and on himself! :killingme

I had my first pt'd by 2.. he is almost 3 now and will go pee in the potty on his own.. just like Dad. he doesn't like to sit down..
But what I did was let him run around nekkid outside and everytime he'd pee, let him know about it.. and then point him toward the potty.. I eventually brought the potty inside ( he was still nekkid.. and he was nekkid for a while) and he would run to it to pee on his own.. (and the poo was the same way.)
My second child is almost one and I decided to start early with him. Cloth diapers and a baby potty for him. It's working great.

My kids were trained by 2 and 2 1/2 and they are boys. It depends on each child, everyone is different

I did stickers! Put up a paper on the fridge and let him place a sticker each and every time he goes. Kids love it!
Also do the blue toilet water thing. It's cool to see it change green.
Never put them on a potty chair. Get them use to the big potty with a removable kid seat

We did the potty chair very briefly.. when we were outside he had to put 'it' someplace.. but inside, it was there for whenever he wanted to go without telling us. We encouraged him to tell us of course and then put him on the big potty.

He is a beautiful little boy!
Thank you!

Going back to the stars
my son will be 3 in june. he never tell me he has to pee. he used to when he was younger. if i put him on the potty he pees most of the time, but i have to be constant with him and its hard when i have a 6 month. i did the sticker reward system but that really didnt work. some say wait but i was just wondering if anyone has any ideas? should i just put him in under wear and let him pee on himself a couple time if he doesnt like it then maybe he will tell me??

I got this idea off of a parenting website, I got a cardboard small box with a flip top and had my daughter help me decorate it with stickers, paint, pictures, etc. Then we named it the potty box. I filled the box with small candy, treats and stickers. When she would go in the potty by herself, she would get to pick something out of the potty box. She really looked forward to going and getting a treat. It worked out really well!!

My ex-Commanding Officer use to miss the toilet when he went. One of our duties, as enlisted personnel, was to clean up his bathroom. Pretty gross. We got him little battleships and floated them in the toilet. It was his mission to sink them.

He was an excellent shot, seldom missed the toilet after that, and really looked forward to going to the bathroom.

I think this might work on little kids too.

:lmao: I'll have to try that! After growing up with 3 brothers, and now living with 3 'boys'... I might have some cleaner bathrooms around here...

this was going to be my suggestion, it worked for all the boys when I was potty trining the kids @ the daycare class I taught many moons ago and also worked for my son. I just put my son in underwear and he got it fairly quickly. Either I was really patient or he was really quick.
