Potty Training is

I would say till at least 4 or longer

Terrible story but, i dread that call from the bathroom. I once puked on my kiddo after that call. He said "mom, you just puked on my butt".

True story that I probably shouldn't tell
When their poop starts to smell like ours, is when I draw the line on changing any diapers now. Luckily, all five of my Grands are trained! :barf:

The rule is that you put on the fan and flush before you call me. They of course forget the first because boys don't want to leave their legos, shows, games until it's practically "cresting"

I can't tell you how many times I puked while changing diapers. Both my boys used to imitate my gagging during a diaper change, and that was when they were vey little

Thanks, a lot of this is taking place at school so I have to sort of try and go at their pace, they start them on the potty at 18 months old and I'm not pushing at ALL, I just ask him if he wants to try. At school they go at the same time every day, so it's routine and I think he just doesn't "get" it. He likes to sit onthe potty, no problem, but doesnt' do anything or says "look, I pee'd" but he really hasn't.

It doesn't sound to me like he's ready. But I do agree that it might be a good idea to switch to some sort of diaper where he actually feels when he's wet, than pullups. Do you have the option of asking them to wait a month or two and then try again?

No, they start on the potty at 18 months and start pull ups then. Those damn pull ups are so absorbent their is no way they can feel wetness. IMO

He sounds like he's not completely ready, and I can understand their reasoning, but this may be prolonging it for *your son. Each child is so different. I think you could also have a similar but different and more inconvenient (for him) routine at home to help him along. If he isn't so comfortable, he might be more inclined to want to be in big boy pants.

We are focusing more on it now and I got those training pants in the mail tuesday and they are actually JUST like big boy pants, to him it'll feel cotton on inside/outside, they just have a layer of plastic in between to prevent the leaks to the clothing I'm guessing  never seen anything like them before.

They're cute, but expensive too.

LOL, yeah, I noticed but thought, (or didn't) I'll just buy 6 to start. Not thinking I'd need a whole bunch of pairs I ordered 3 packs, then it hit me...ummm... I may need quite a few more pair if I figure 3 pair for school each day to start :faint:

IT'S HAPPENING !!!!!!!!!! OHHH EMMM GGGG... he's getting it !! It's like someone flipped a switch and HE GETS IT !! we were to the point his daycare teachers were honestly at a loss, had no idea what else to try. I talked to the owner of the daycare who suggested we just give it a rest for a few weeks, which I had no problem with considering I was washing 3 or 4 pairs of pants a day. Well, teacher told me in passing that she put a potty training dvd in my sons lunch box if we wanted to try watching it last weekend. I thought yeah, sure... :ohwell: I popped that DVD in the player in the car on Tuesday a.m. and by Thursday he was hooked... he's going like a BOSS now, on the potty !! :bann: I'm so excited, going EVERY time to the bathroom, hops up on his step stool and OWN the potty !! Using sticker chart and treats so he does try to go maybe a little TOO much... but I'll take it !!

Same thing happened with my son, although I won't embarrass him by saying how LONG it took. But the trigger was the arrival of his little sister whom we adopted and was ALREADY potty trained. He changed overnight. Just like that.

She should have realized that back in January rather than putting you (and him) through a couple of months of failure. Like the saying about wrestling with a pig; just gets you both dirty and pisses off the pig. :D Anyway.....YAY lil KDENISE977boy!!! I know how happy you are to be seeing the end of diapers. :) LIKE LIKE LIKE

Omagosh... you have no idea, well...maybe you do :huggy: Yes, it was like wrestling a greased pig, only dirtier, I was doing laundry and running out of pants/underpants EVERY-SINGLE-NIGHT(and he has an extensive wardrobe of pants) Oh and the occasional terd in the washing machine was nice...after it was clean and I was emptying the washer, yup....clean terd the teachers hadn't emptied his underwear I guess.

SO, we're good and much happier now. First day of his first soccer season and I'm already planning on taking an extra pair of undies and sweat pants, just in case.

THANKS YOU EVERYONE !!

Yaaaaaay! :starcat:

Mine still hates me. He wears undies pretty much full time, except at night and nap time... but he's just become expert in holding it. Which is a step in the right direction, I suppose. He definitely knows that he doesn't like soggy pants. I'm still betting I'll have his baby sister trained before he finally gets it.
