Potty Training

Four*Leaf*Farm

RIP Quinn
My 19 mo. old boy will sit on the potty and jibber jabber but nothing has happened yet... When it does, I'll make such a big deal out of it...
We also have the regular toilet seat topper... the other little potty he likes to wear on his head- so that has basically become a toy...
I think if we continue to talk about it when mommy or daddy go and point out when he goes in the bathtub, that it will sink in. He already sees what he does in his diaper and says 'caca!' ...
what fun.

Mine called it "nucky". :lmao:

I introduced the idea of potty training to my son when he was 2, and he wasn't very interested. I didn't push it, but when he was two and a half I became proactive about it. He was fully potty trained well before his third birthday, and rarely had accidents. He'll be five in a few months. I tried the pull ups for about a week, they were nothing more than a glorified diaper. At first we used the little seat that sat on the regular toilet, but soon after he was just using the toilet without it. He was big on peeing standing up from the very beginning, and it was a pain to have to put it on/take it off.

I noticed with both of mine that pull ups seemed to lengthen the time it took to potty train them. I used pull ups and mine just didn't worry about it, because the pull up would catch any accidents. I switched to the thick toddler panties and toted lots of change of clothes and undies and put them on the potty before we went anywhere and when we'd get where we were going. It's a HUGE PITA, but they were fully potty trained within a month that way (NO accidents, EVER). They hated wet undies. They had been in pull ups for 8 months and were going potty when they felt like it and still had LOTS of accidents.

When is a good age to introduce potty training? Any interesting stories?

My son was closer to 3 when he was potty trained. He just didn't care. My daughter on the hand was 2 exactly. I have always heard girls are easier to potty train and in my case it was true.

Oh she knew how to do that but, I had the hardest time keeping her from trying to drink from it! Warning never let your family dog try to raise your children! :killingme

Another thing I do is when I sit the child on the toilet or potty chair, I keep a plastic cup in the bathroom and I use it to pour slightly warm water down over his penis /her vagina. It stimulates the urge to pee. Then make a really big deal out of them going. Reward them with 1 M&M or 1 marshmallow.
Oh great, now in a few years when the kid is out with his friends,
someone will spill a drink, your kid will pee their pants then beat the other kid up for his candy.

I hope this habit stops before they begin to date.
