Power In St. Mary's County

that's a drag. Is that something fairly E Z to fix?

Technically, yes. Realistically, no. I need a certified electrician/SMECO to cut the power at the pole on the road before the main breaker can be replaced. Getting SMECO involved right now could be a problem.

A&G Electric is Awesome!

Yeah. One side of the main breaker won't engage. Looks like there was old water intrusion.

I had the same issue during the hurricane - found a puddle of water beneath my breaker panel in the basement (yikes!). I found where it was coming into the panel and did a temporary fix until the storm passed. I thought it was just the seal where the wires came into the house so I replaced that with silicone but after yesterday's rains, I found I still had water.

Called A&G Electric yesterday and they were here first thing this morning. Looks like it was the seal that leads to the electric meter on the side of the house. He said it's pretty common in older homes (mine was built in '57) so he just replaced the seal on top of the meter with 'duck seal' and said I'm good to go. :yahoo:

Just a shout out to A&G for getting to me so quickly and for not charging me an arm and a leg. If fact, it only cost me a lil piggie.

Hope I don't find myself in need again but I know who I'll call iffen I do!

Well, this just sucks. Electrician was all set to start last Sat to replace the breaker panel, but SMECO wants their paper trail and permits, and couldn't free anyone up to shunt the power until this coming Friday. So I was totally without power for 6 days, and an additional 7 days on partial power (no 220v) waiting to get the electrician started.

But yes.... it could have been alot worse. I'm just thankful nothing fell on my house. I am SO looking forward to a hot shower in my own bathroom.

Well, it was a long time coming, but I finally have full power. Hot water heater is cranking up, a/c is drying the house out. Looking forward to taking a hot shower in my own home.

Thanx to Mattingly Electric for getting this done.

You're gonna need a bigger generator.
