Give it up, y'all. I bought a ticket today. About the first time ever. So I know it's the winner.

We won $8. Put it towards more tickets. We don't play the lottery as a rule, but who wouldn't try for a billion plus dollars?!

Good luck, everyone!

Wonder how much it would cost to have bought all the rest of the possible combinations?

in 1989 or 90 the DC lotto hit aprox 80 million, the odds were 16 million to 1 to win [old style lotto you only had to match 5 or 6 numbers]
a conglomerate out of Australia bought the Lotto that summer

DC officials changed the rules after that ....

I would not doubt there are organized factions that hire people to do just that.

the winners have groups people buying tickets in blocks ....

01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06
01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 07
01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 08
01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 09

etc

This could be a colossal failure depending on how many other people hold winning tickets.

Why play when the odds are so strongly against you?

Why not? Because it is fun, a challenge, or you can't win if you don't play. At $2 a ticket, it can't hurt too much unless you are excessive about it. We have only bought $10 at a time. But, I do see your point. The odds are astronomically against the players.

One more thing. Someone or multiple someones will win unless it is rigged or somehow being unethically manipulated. Who knows. But, I think it is a reflection of the state of America, and many are hurting and willing to spend their few dollars on a dream come true.

The bottom line is, where can you have so much fun and something to talk about for a few dollars.
I think it is great.

Now, if your playing every week, hmmmmmmm.......

I've bought scratchers before but I've never bought an actual lottery ticket before...until yesterday. I feel like such an adult now

Think I'll pick up three on the way home. Why three? Dunno. Just feels like a good number of tickets. The proper donation to the gods of luck and chance.
