Pregnancy-Early baby movements

With my first I actually didn't feel much anything until 22+ weeks because I had what the doctors called an anterior placenta. So I went from pretty much nothing to getting very obviously poked and jabbed.

This bebe I started feeling flutter and bubble around probably 16 weeks. It really is hard to describe unless you KNOW what gas bubbles feel like. Bebe was hanging out sideways until nearly 30 weeks and I was getting all sorts of flailing on both sides of my belly button. Rather painful at times, actually!

Once bebe flipped head down I started getting lots of kicks up right below my rib cage and the lovely cervix punches. It's a very similar sensation to whacking your funny bone, except for the location of the feeling.

Congrats!

One bit of advice that I absolutely loved when it came to picking names was to try yelling the first and the middle name, like parents do to their kids when they have done something bad. Have to make sure it rolls right, wouldn't do to get tongue tied and flub it. Ruins the mood

That's FANTASTIC advice on picking out the name. I have a hard time now b/c you usually want to put a "y" or a "er" on the end when talking baby talk and it doesn't really work with my son...Chasey or Chaser, just sounds weird. Good thinkin momma. Did you pick out a name yet?

First name is picked out, yes. We're still waffling over how to spell it and what middle name to pair it with. We STILL don't know boy/girl so we have a boy spelling and a girl spelling. I hate picking middle names so that may well be procrastinated until push time, hah. For the first munchkin I think we did middle name a week or two before he was born.

Chasey liked it enough to make it a forum name. :coffee:

My son was an er, my oldest daughter was an ie. youngest one has a nickname I'm not going to mention here, but I can tell you won't like it said in front of friends or in public. :roflmao:

Care to share?

I had a name like that for the youngest picked out. Didn't end up using it but I liked them

Cameron/Camryn

I've seen several others as well.

Kieran/Kierin (boy/girl) pronounced keer-an. I wanted to do Kiera for the girl version but hubby has some weird aversion to the name, yet still absolutely loves Kier(a/i)n

20 weeks today! Halfway point. :yahoo:

:howdy:

Congratulations!!!! You're about a month behind me. We are having a boy and we struggled with agreeing on a name. Finally one day he said a name and I loved it! It will come...

The movements to me felt like how you would imagine popcorn popping- very small yet almost obvious of what they were. Apparently everyone has a different feeling, I never felt the "flutters".

SIL had her baby a month ago, named Kiera.

Husband's family is really into their Irish heritage so I do have a bunch of Irish-based names on my list.

Thank you and congrats to you too. I'm pretty sure they are baby movements, I just can't believe how much little bugger is moving.

Don't forget to look at initials!! Some unfortunate combinations of two and three letters out there! Also, I made sure I thought of what OTHERS may end up calling my child. For example- I love steven, but don't like steve. You know once they get out in the world others may very well shorten/nickname it into something you don't care for.

My two girls have names that are very popular for nicknames. I made it a point that their names were ****** and *******. If I wanted them called by a nickname, I'd have named them that. My son's name is short, so no nickname there either. I have a friend that named her baby Shelli because she wanted her called Shelli. My daughters father goes by a nickname for his Middle name, never understood that (they named him James, but he doesn't go by James, Jimmy, Jim or any other variation of that) WTF?

My son's name is Wyatt but everyone calls him Bubba.

:ohwell: Everyone. Even the kids at daycare.

Both my sons have first names that can be last names. We liked the middle name of Wyatt for my oldest son and my husband like it because of Wyatt Earp. So, when we found out we were having another boy, he wanted something to go along with Wyatt (even though that's not the oldest's first name) but we needed to add my husband's first name as our son's middle name because that's a family tradition. I'm just glad we are done with babies because naming a kid is stressful if you think about the fact that they are stuck with that name for life and if it's dumb, it will be dumb forever.

On that note, I was surprised that Reese Witherspoon named her baby, Tennessee. She had fairly normal names for the other two and then went all celebrity crazy baby name with this one. :ohwell:

After many years of teaching I think I am pretty good at thinking through the ramifications of different names (nicknames, initials, etc). But this also means that I have several student associations with names which means there are also a lot I can't/won't use.

I have a few different names on my list that are based on places/locations, but they are also actual names.--These of course are the ones hubby hates. Even though one name is a part of the name of the town where we met.
