President in Iraq

SmallTown

Football season!
Don't see it as a PR stunt, unless he is REALLY worried about the upcoming election. No president in their right mind would go to such an unstable country simply for votes. And the people who he would gain votes for by doing this (the military) would already vote for him any ways. So he either did it because he really really wanted to see the iraqi countryside and meet the troops, or to get away from Mrs. Bush who had been nagging him about what he wanted for Christmas for the past three weeks.

Hey, give them credit, it was all done in secret and no "Mission Accomplished" banner in the background. You can teach an old dog a new trick.

Thanks SmallTown. The morning after it happened and the criticisms began, I was beginning to think "holy CRAP! you just CAN'T *please* these guys!".

Of course, a bit later Hillary was telling troops in Baghdad that the folks back home have serious questions about what we're doing there. Why would someone do that, if the whole point was to go and *encourage* the troops?

I don't even know what the DU is.
The DU is the Democratic Underground, where pulers all over the country meet to talk about what a horrible tyrant and non-English-speaking dummy Dubya is.

They're so filled with hate they make you look like the RNC chairman, Buttercup.

:frown: Frank, I don't know if you looked at the link I posted from
Lucianne.com about this, but a whole lot of people are upset that
she just had to stick in that comment. (the link is no longer available on their end)
As you say, if the point of her going to Afghanistan and Iraq was to *encourage* the troops there, it's highly questionable why the comment was made.

Perhaps she was misquoted.

Also, she was joined on the trip by another Senator, by the name of Reed, I think. However he dosen't have anything to say in the interviews.

Funny, maybe he found he could not get a word in edgewise.

The link on Drudge now goes to the same article, but at a different source.
I think Monday or Tuesday, we're going to see an article by Ann Coulter(remember "Treason"?) in review of Sen. Clinton's visit to the Middle East and her comments vis a vis the president's journey and his remarks.

I anticipate quite a dialogue here.

Probably, the DU will have their slant, as well.

Should be a heck of a contrast, to say the least.

She'd have to break her normal schedule then - her column comes out on Thursdays.

:blushing: Sorry about that; I guess we'll have to wait until then.
