Wholesale prices in sharp decline in October - Nov. 18, 2008

Wholesale prices fell by a record amount in October as energy costs continued to decline, government figures showed Tuesday.

The index for residential natural gas slid 5.9% and prices for home heating oil moved down 9.6% in the month.

I would like to see food prices fall...it is crazy how much food cost these days!!!

It's ridiculous. Just a couple years ago I could grocery shop weekly at right around $100 a trip. Still have to go weekly but those trips cost us sometimes upwards of $200. I'd say average is around $130-$150. I don't even buy all brand name anymore.

I am a very careful shopping, have to be right now, living with a pay cut....I spend about $50-$60.00 a week on food/household supplies for family of 3 ( me, hubby and 13yr old son ). My son buys lunch at school, but hubby and I brown bag every day. We have cut out a ton of stuff...I don't buy sodas or any extra junk stuff any more, just what I need for meals....sometimes I even spend less, depends what is on sale for that week...I always check the reduced meats and reduced items baskets....have gotten some really good deals there before..
